This is just baffling to me. Is there no end to the rise in cost?

My company is supposedly paying for half of my health insurance but I'm now paying $300/month. 35 years old, completely healthy, my medical bills are $0.00 every year. I do not have any need for a doctor. I have insurance in case of an emergency, but I feel like I'm paying more than I could ever use.

$600/month for a single healthy person? Explain this to me. How could you even accumulate $600/month in medical expenses?

How do you know you are completely healthy if you are not going to a doctor on a regular basis?

For a person with a need to see a doctor that could be a drop in the bucket. I kind of did a set it and forget program with my insurance. I'm self employed so I just pay directly. However I believe from what I understand other people in your company's group could cause your insurance to go up.

Get on the insurance exchange and drop the company policy.

Part of it is you are paying for people that are not paying into the insurance fund but are using it. They say thanks!

America once focused on strength and survival of the fittest, we now focus on those who are pieces of shite.

I need to go to pharmaceutical peddlers to tell me I'm healthy? No.

I say I'm healthy because I eat healthier than everyone I know, I exercise every day, I'm not overweight, my blood pressure is in the athletic range, I feel great, etc.

When I put in my household income (which is far from good) and I have to answer the question that I have health insurance through my company (not sure, there's no option to pick "they pay half", it's only you have coverage or you don't), it usually tells me that me and my wife's poor asses won't qualify. I have no expendable income remaining I guess I'm going to lose the house in the next couple of years.

Why are you paying that much? Raise your deductible. I'm 5 years older than you are and pay half what you do, w United Health. I get included (I will not say "free" but nothing on top of premium/no copay) 2 checkups a year, but I haven't been to Dr since my pediatrician. I guess it's time for some Mooooon River now that I'm over the hill.

But the answer to your question is our health care system and "insurance" systems are totally f'ed and ACA is just gonna keep f'ing them up worse. Duh.

Obama says none of this factors into your healthcare costs.

I pay $426 a month. No ongoing medical issues. In about a 1/4 of a second I did $50,000 worth of damage to my hand. My deductible was $1,000. I came out ahead that month.

So you know your cholesterol and triglyceride levels?

I'm not saying go for every sniffle. But you are at an age where preventive medicine may benefit you. That includes annual physicals. If you are gonna pay so much for health insurance you should at least utilize it.
