I hope Calgary rolls and keeps LA home. Don't care to see mediocrity rewarded for a third time in four years

You have a Jason Spezza who is on pace to almost score 20 goals!
He took half the season to get his arse in gear but was our best offensive weapon while Seguin was hurt. He doesn't play at the blue line or in net so the Stars woes aren't on him.

Stars are 2nd in the league in gpg and are going to miss the playoffs. Only team in the top 10 of that stat that will be playing golf early this year.

Stars are 5th in most goals allowed. Only two teams in the top 10 of that stat will make the playoffs. That defense has been atrocious.

Pens make decision to bring this years first round pick Kasperi Kapanen back to the US from his Finnish pro team.

Pens love this kid.

quote:

Like other top young Finnish players Aleksander Barkov (FLA) and defenseman Risto Ristolainen (BUF), Kapanen has played in Finland's elite league as a teenager, showing the ability to compete and have success against players that are bigger and older. The physical elements of North American hockey and the size and strength of NHL players will be a challenge but Kapanen has a rare combination of skill and hockey IQ that put him among the better forward prospects in his age group.

Ovie got his 50th goal of the season tonight.

6th player in NHL history to score at least 50 goals in 6 seasons or more (I think I heard that correctly).

Peg and Rangers for me, 2-2 late 3rd.

Make that 3-2 Rags with 3:46 left. Breakaway on some terrible Winnipeg defense.

If Peg doesn't come back that is a brutal loss of at least a point when they're up 2 on LAK.

Wings got dominated and were on the penalty kill most of the game, yet Mrazek played out of his mind and they had a lead until four minutes left. This is getting uncomfortable. Gotta beat the Bs on Thursday.

With his 6th season of 50 goals or more, Ovi has moved into some elite company. Heck, Ovi would have scored 50 goals in the strike shortened years and did score over 50 if you count the ones he scored in the KHL. He led the NHL in goals that year. The only players to have more 50+ goal seasons are Wayne Gretzky and Mike Bossy. End of list.

Even more amazing is that Ovi is doing this in a dismal offensive era. Ovi has 41% more goals over the past 10 years than the #2 goal scorer over the same span (Iginla). That's the biggest gap since Gretzky, who was at 42%.

Of the 6 players who have scored 50+ goals 6 times, only one of them has ever been the only 50-goal scorer in any of those six seasons: Ovi. And it's happened three times.

The man is amazing. It has been a privilege to watch his career. He is the best pure goal scorer in NHL history.

Peg loses, remain 2 points up in 8 spot over LA but now LA has a game in hand and the tiebreaker.

well, i expect the fig rags to get 1st seed and win their division. that would pit them against the goonins as of right now. If we win division we would face the caps as of right now. The detroit hot wings would face tampon bay. All this could change. oh and isles versus pens
