Caps massively outplayed the Habs for two periods, but couldn't get a goal. The 3rd was pretty even until that final minute, in which the Caps tried to throw the game away. Really, the Caps should've had a lead early, but can only blame themselves for that. Habs played tough, hung in there, and took advantage when tired legs took over. As the game got uglier, the advantage went to the Habs.
Still, fantastic game. Really entertaining, and it was nice to see two teams both trying to win instead of just trying to play out the clock and get a free point. Disappointed with the result, but no problems with how the boys played. Sometimes, you don't get the breaks. Keep playing like that, and things will take care of themselves.

I disagree with Caps dominating two periods.
They dominated the 2nd, for sure.
The Habs had period 1, the 3rd was even.
Made for a great game though.

The guy from Pittsburgh drove me insane with his corny sayings
George Grande when he did Blues games for FSN was ohhh and the shawwwt on calls he does it with Reds games now but uses drive instead of shot. But I like his calls.

@JoshYohe_Trib: 9 NHL teams have scored one or zero goals today. There are still a couple of more games. This strikes me as a problem that isn't going away.

Why is it a problem? Why is one night considered a trend?

Great goaltending and string defense is a problem?

It's crazy to me you don't how big this issue is, do you not follow the news for the League much and just follow teams?
The NHL is actively looking at ways to increase scoring, and are very likely going to increase the goal sizes as soon as this offseason. Not new news.
The League has seen the average goals per game drop for 4 consecutive seasons, it is now extremely close to the average goals that were scored in the late 90's/early 2000's in which that era was called what? The dead puck era.
The 2013-14 season was one of the lowest scoring seasons in NHL history and so far this season is marginally higher and trending down still.
Hell this past offseason they changed what, I think it was 5 "small" tweaks to try and get offense up this season. It's up 0.02 over last year right now, basically zero. Those small tweaks didn't work at all, and we're going to see the goal sizes increase very soon as well as 3on3 OT.

they had "ISSUES" in the late 90's and changed the rules to get more offense. great goaltending and defense are fantastic sights to behold.

Why try to manipulate an already great game? I know they're trying to up scoring but defenses adjust. One night is not indicative and by the way 5 teams had 4 or more goals.
Now I understand you wouldn't know what good goaltending looks like, and you certainly won't see it today in the Penguins vs Predators game unless a miracle happens and Rinne starts.
But it's absurd to whine about a lack of scoring. Do you think every thing Bettman does is a good idea?
