My jaw been buggin the shite outta me for about a month. It hurts like hell to open my mouth wide and biting down hard.
Went to the dentist and he told me that Im grinding my teeth at night and that's what's making it hurt.
He told me to get a mouthpiece from wal mart and try it out and if I like it then he'll make me a custom one.
Any one else grinds their teeth?

Yep. Get a bite plate. Fixes the problem.

Yep occasionally. I wear a night guard.
I clench my jaw as well. Idk about the grinding, but I know the clenching is stress related.

Right here. I've got a custom made mouthpiece and its helped a lot. But watch out if your unconscious self is anything like mine, you'll spit/take that bastard out in your sleep the first few nights with it

I clench the shite out of my jaws around the clock. I really need to go to the dentist.

I find myself clenching all day. I usually have a habit of biting the inside of my mouth all day

Yeah I do and my dentist told me the same
It's been about 2 yrs since he told me this and I have yet to buy a mouthpiece
I'd recommend skipping the buying it from walmart suggestion and go ahead and get him to make you one

I've had friends make fun of me for spending money on the expensive dentist one. If I had known better, I would have tried the Walmart one.

Is the one from Wal-Mart just a regular mouthpiece like the ones used in football?

Yeah I believe so
Like I said, it's been 2 yrs since my dentist recommend I buy it but I still haven't
I'm gonna regret it later down the road

Absolutely don't do this if you don't want your condition to worsen. Because the boil mouthpieces are pliable, your mind will view this as food and cause an increase in the clenching and grinding habit.
Those soft guards are good to protect your teeth during sports. A hard professionally made bite guard can be adjusted in a manner to diminish the grinding/clenching and help to protect the teeth, bone , muscles and jaw joint.
It's a relatively small investment in protecting an your teeth that are designed to last your whole lifetime.

My dad did because the medicine he takes. So he stopped taking the medicine that he really really needs to take.

I wear one the dentist made for me. I chewed through the wal-mart one in about a month.

I do it during the day when I'm stressed out. Not at night though

Everyone does. Get a dentist to make a mouth piece and save your teeth.

I almost ground mine flat. Ever see a cow chew? If you grind for a long period of time, that's how you'll end up eating food.
the night guards are expensive but much cheaper than new set of teeth so you can enjoy steak later in life.
