Use to a lot! doc told me to buy mouth-guard.
Bought mouth-guard.
Used 2 nights...........never have grinded again.

Truth, like it turned off the switch.

I do and I highly recommend getting some kind of night guard because I didn't and I cracked two teeth. A lot more expensive than a guard.

My dentist actually told me to use the soft ones, but I'm getting one made soon. I have ground through about 5 of those, though on the one I have now, it looks like I'm not grinding as much. It's a good tight fit. I've never had a headache or a jaw ache from grinding.

call him up and have him make you a real one. the walmart thing is not going to be good enough fit.

also your MD can prescribe physical therapy for you. a few deep tissue massages & you learning to breath through the pain, and then you do at home exercises, massaging your three main muscles involved, heat, massage, cold pack.

Forget Walmarts, or just tell him you did it and you are ready for the real one.
And go to your family MD and ask for the physical therapy; some people are actually certified to deal with it. not all.
you will have to call around some.

I've had friends make fun of me for spending money on the expensive dentist one. If I had known better, I would have tried the Walmart one.

I do...and I have horrible jaw joint pain and get headaches from it. I also catch myself grinding my teeth or clenching my jaw during the day a lot.

It's a para functional habit called bruxism and without a protective night guard can destroy your teeth over time.

Yep, it was a big issue a few months ago, but I'll have to get one of those night mouthpieces.

You will find two or three varieties of bite guards at WalMart in the area where toothpaste and toothbrushes are found. Do not get the kind that you have to boil and make it shape into your mouth. Those are more for dental protection a la participation in sports.

You will see an immediate difference once you put one of the guards in your mouth. I do not believe that you need to expend a bunch of money to have a dentist particularly make one.

I just picked a mouth guard up from Walgreens and Imma give it a try for about 2 weeks to see how it does before I drop money at the dentist office for one.
