I would say depending on age:

20-30s: 6 minutes

40-50s: 7 minutes

and so on...

If you aren't a runner I'd say a sub 10 minute mile would be a relatively good pace. If you run you need to be closer to the 8 minute mark.

it takes more than an average healthed, mid 20s person to run a 6 min mile....

this is not a "standard" time.

18-28 age, should be able to do a 7 min mile for 3 miles.

29-35 age add 5 mins

36 - 44 add another 5 mins

45 and over, walking is best.

These were The Marine Corps standards in the 1970's.

Was running 3 miles under 17 mins.

No kidding. Some of the answers in this thread

A six minute mile is hauling arse for most people.

3-4 miles at an 8-minute pace is pretty damned good. That's not competition level obviously, but you'd have to be in pretty good shape. As of about 5 years ago I could do three in 21:30 and that was probably the best aerobic shape of my lief. I've been trying for 4 in 32 for a while and seem to just hit some ceiling.

These are always good threads.

ULMPedro is the only fast guy on this board.

The rest of us are FOS.

Only time I have run in the past 12 years was on a dare, and I did 3 miles in 19 minutes. I blew chunks and was seeing stars after, but I did it

If you're old or fat, 8-10 minute miles are okay. Otherwise, nut up and push yourself
