I wish I could convince my bay retriever that there is a difference between the doorbell at home vs the one on tv. Sometimes it cracks me up when she goes to every door looking for the potential visitor. She's a great dog so I will not give her much grief.
Atleast I know that she's has her boundary under control.

One of my friends told me they trained their cocker spaniel by saying TV everytime it rang on TV. It took our beagle about a week to catch on.

We knock on the wall all the time to get my golden riled up, but once he sees you doing it he just looks at you with that "you're such a douche" look.

Drives me crazy when I'm watching a House Hunters marathon and the damn dogs bark every 30 minutes at opening of show.

My cousin used to train roosters for cock-fighting. He would try to develop this Pavlovian association between car horns and the kill instinct, so that he could honk his horn outside the match and his chicken would know what was up. It was a pretty good system cause his chicken would go into kill mode while the other one was still trying to get its bearings from being thrown into the kill-pit. Anyway, one day he's feeding his hoard of rooster-assassins (his wording, not mine) and a car horn goes off on television, so they tore him to pieces. It was fricking nasty. Did you know that a trained rooster will strike a man in the neck or groin 10 out of 10 times?

Here's a good one:

The house both our dogs have been in since they were puppies has never had a doorbell. Yet everytime one goes off on the TV they go nuts.

Dude, don't act like you've never gotten your arse up off of the couch to check the front door...

My dog does not react to the doorbell ringing....he just looks around like...what the hell was that....BUT, if someone knocks on the door look-out cause all hell is breaking loose.

My brother-in-law had 2 Cocker Spaniels that would go crazy when they heard a doorbell. They couldn't watch Wheel of Fortune because every time Vanna turned a letter they would go nuts!

We have a 9 month old lab/pointer/? Mix that goes nuts for TV doorbells. It's a pain because sometimes A little late night TV helps me fall asleep. I almost want to propose a rule to the FCC that at 10pm they stop filtering profanity and start filtering doorbells!
