There's nothing insulting about being a really good second option. Howard (the best center in the league) is the second best player on his team.

ETA: Howard is the most robotic post player this side of Hibbert.

How one can learn from Ewing, McHale and Hakeem without having a really high post J or baseline fadeaway or up and under is odd.

Maybe he'll find great move as he becomes slightly more grounded. maybe not.

well the 11th best odds i see is 22/1. That's about where i would put ATL.

Just that they've never won anything, ever, nor threatened to win anything, ever. They are good, but they aren't this good.

Why you mad, though?

I was saying that Gasol could be a great second option on a championship caliber team, not the Grizzlies.

That's a pretty big disparity. Sounds like you know something that nobody else knows.

meh their isn't consistent juice.....The market isn't held rational by the 10% juice rule. You can use the inverse that a team can never truly be better than their odds based on all available current information or else the sharks would jump on the arbitration, but theres no equivalent force on the other end of the spectrum.... Sometimes, Vegas just screws stupid people dying to give away their money.

And yet you picked one of the historically worst teams in NBA history (golden state) as your number one most likely team to win?

The worst anyone could possibly argue with a straight face is that we are the second best team in the NBA just past halfway through the season. You don't have us in your top 10. You are a clown.

Why is it better to have a superstar than 7+ players who can lead the team in scoring and put up 20 plus in 7 straight games?

Do superstars win NBA titles, or does the media annoint players superstars once they get on nationally televised playoff games and win them?

In what way do completely different Atlanta Hawk rosters from past seasons this team from winning?

What wins basketball games (playoffs or not) is an efficient offense and and efficient defense (and preferably one that plays at a high pace)... not fricking superstar fairy dust, "it factor", or having the lakers/celtics/bulls logo on your chest.... and we are proving that by kicking literally everyone's arse (11-2 record against those 10 teams you ranked ahead of us).

We very well may not win the title, but not putting us in the top 10 when you have a selection size of 45 and we are playing head and shoulders better than everyone in the NBA besides Golden State is retarded.

Grizzlies and hawks can't win the championship but the clippers can because Blake griffin is marginally better than gasol and horford and is in more advertisements.

And we are homers because we think our top 5 teams have a chance at a title. How silly

They've been in the playoffs the past 2 years with a lot of young players.

47 wins to 51 wins, and they are on pace for over 60 wins this season. It's called an upward trend. They are ready to take the next step.

This isn't a thread about who has been the best team in the NBA up until this point.

It's title contenders.

Because title teams aren't born overnight. Well sometimes they are, but that's if you have a transcendent superstar.

I never said it was better.

That superstar talk was secondary to the original conversation. I never said a superstar was a must, but it certainly helps.

that's the type of shite that you hear repeated over and over by your coaches growing up and ESPN personalities and you don't really question it...

then you think about it and you are like "wait, that's just a cliche saying with no real substance at all".

Sometimes you have to think critically and re-evaluate the way you look at the world when presented with new evidence. The hawks are a completely dominant team, and it basically happened overnight. I'll take a team that is dominant that wasn't good a year ago over a team that is pretty good but who won a playoff series or two a few seasons ago when I was paying attention.

But oh yeah, they aren't a contender to win because the poster on my wall right next to bob marley smoking a j and Ken Griffey Jr. says "championship teams aren't born overnight".

the truth is... the past doesn't mean jack titties, because the Hawks are just better at playing basketball than pretty much anyone else. And we have enough games under our belt to conclude that pretty definitively

then this is the perfect time for you to question it.

im laying it out there. Find me the last team to win 38 games the year before, and then come back and win the championship.

Without looking it up right now, i'd bet no team has gone from 38 wins one year to a 37-8 start to the season or better the next year. We already have broken trends. I try to evaluate teams by watching them play and evaluating the advanced statistics, not by looking at teams' previous year's records and other things that have a correlation, but no causation to winning titles.

Regardless, I could pull about 500 historical trends out of my dick-hole right now that say we are going to win the title this year.

But I instead just use my brain.
