I've got 10 dozen or so venison tamales in my deep freezer.

Anyone have any experience on cooking them?

I've always just let em thaw, and microwave wrapped in a wet paper towel. They will be delicious no matter what you do.

place on a plate, cover with a wet paper towel, microwave for 2 minutes, flip them all over and recover, microwave for an additional 2 minutes.

Good deal. I will try this tomorrow.

I've also got quite a few dozen venison burritos. I prefer the burritos baked in lieu of microwaved. I bake them 20 minutes per side at 350 and they come out somewhat crispy, which I like.

I like my tamales warmed in a steamer. A microwave works though.

For what it's worth:

When I bought some of those Mamita's Tamales from the truck (these were the frozen ones in the bag), the owner told me to definitely avoid microwaving them because they would turn out dry. He recommended boiling them in the bag until they were hot.

This is how we cook frozen tamales as well. I get a few dozen frozen each time we go to Natchez. They come out pretty darn good.

Cooked 4 for my son today. They are fine microwaved n the wax paper. Min for 1, min and half for 2, 2 min for 3 etc.

No need to thaw. Zap'm and eat. I took him 48 lbs a month ago.... One of my buds picked up the order: 1080 Tamales & 70 Burritos

Keep in mind that is for microwaving at least 5 of them at once. Forgot to mention that.

You can also steam them: fill a pot with water, place tamales in a colander and place the colander on top of the pot, cover the top of the colander with a baking pan or something, bring the water to a boil and steam until cooked. That's how my mom used to make them for us growing up...it takes a while though, so I microwave 'em.

U definately want to steam traditional tamales, and certainly tamales in corn husks....

Mickeys arent ur traditional tamales tho. Nuke and eat.

First you make a deer chili
Line the bottom of a deep baking dish with tamales
Pour some chili on top
Then some diced Jalapenos or green chilis
Then Shredded cheese
Bake till the cheese is melted and beginning to brown

Eat with tortilla chips or fritos, makes a great dip
