Depends on the quality of the player.

Depends on the quality of coaching.

Depends on the QB bro... Some guys it takes 3 months, others it takes 3 years.

There isn't a set time for any players developemental period.

2. 5-star recruit gets kicked out of school for whatever reason
3. pick-up top Junior JUCO recruit
4. success

Depends on the training the kid received prior to college and the system he is coming into. The issue with LSU and Cam(as he admitted himself a month ago) is that LSU has Pro concepts and pro terminology may have been too much for Harris and even Jennings early on. Or, maybe he could have only given them a little instead of the whole elephant to eat if you will. So, Harris struggled as most TRUE FRESHMEN Qbs will. But, what made his transition more difficult was simple HS system to "Pro-style". Basically going from basic arithmetic to Physics. Also, Harris and some even said he didn't put the time in as he should.

Same can be said for AJ. Jennings just seems like he has spells of not getting the concepts and also that he has a low ceiling either way.

But overall, time depends on what a coach has to work with from the start, and that goes for any position. The more training a kid had in the system you are using prior to coming into school makes the transition easier. Prime example is Kyle Allen at aTm. Everyone wanted to compare his playing late in the year to Harris here. But Harris came from a similar system to what was used at aTm and Allen came from more of a pro offense akin to what LSU uses. So his transition to College Station was easier by comparison due to his training and high school offense.

Depends.

Are you taking a HS option QB and trying to make them a drop back passer?

Are you taking a passing HS QB and trying to make him an option QB?

Are you taking a sows ear and trying to make a silk purse?

Believe it or not, there are some high school QBs that will just never be respectable college QBs.

And remember this: Just because the QB on the field sucks, doesn't necessarily mean that the QB on the bench is better. Think about it...

What the hell are sensible responses doing on the Rant?

I simply think that too much was expected of our QBs in Years 1 and 2, respectively and that Ohio state shouldn't be the barometer fr success.

The norm, a QB usually plays like they want their Junior year.

Just another something that I don't understand how people don't know this. Kids that play above their level their soph or freshman year are typically exceptions to the rule.

Happens everywhere......every year at 95% of schools. I know it's hard to believe, but it happens at LSU.

The reason it seems like it's been so many years at LSU because of the Lee/Jefferson era.

Then came Mettenberg. Was OK his first year. Then was pretty damn good his next year.

Now it's back to a sophomore. Shocker, the quarterback position is young again and isn't very good.

Miles and Cameron were fantastic last year for developing Mettenberger into one of the better qb in the SEC. Now, all of the sudden they aren't good qb developers because Jennings isn't any good yet. I guess they just forgot how to coach and Mettenberger's development had nothing to do with coaching.

too many variables to what typical means, Urban Meyer won it all with his 3rd string QB

our staff is not typical, the amount of $ we are paying them affords me to say that, we did not improve at all this year at the QB position....

so my answer is between 3 games and 2 years if at all

not trying to be obtuse and not play by the rules but I dont think any of us will be able to make the assumption about a staff or player, I will say in my experience that most successful programs have a red shirt sophomore or Junior under center.

You didn't hear? That was all Richt's doing, for the eight or so months that he had Mett.

That definitely showed his first year starting.

This is what I believe and why Im willing to let Jennings show what he can do next year before considering him a lost cause.

Can't understand why everyone believes that we've already hit the what you see is what you get time frame

Because people are stupid and impatient and don't pay attention to anything outside of what they are looking at.
