You got plenty for Fowler. Valbuena is a very good contributor and Dan Straily has shown some good potential. Your rotation is very thin, so you get a 26 year old starting pitcher with some talent to give your club innings. He'll most likely start right out the gate for the Astros.

Astros are 1 DL stint away from disaster with that rotation.

Astros greatly needed starting pitching depth and Luis Valbuena probably wins the starting 3rd baseman job out of Spring. Not sure how much more the Astros could have gotten. Maybe a contending team would have paid more for Fowler at the trade deadline, but then the Astros are gambling that Fowler remains healthy until then.

Fowler isn't squat. Decent deal for the Astros.

The Gattis trade was horrible. But this one was fine.

Fowler is not that good. Injury prone, no power, defense is garbage, FA after this year..

This could be a win for both teams but definitely not a trade rape.

5 of your 8 regulars have OBP .300 or under, and he's not that good

His OBP is a good tool for him but I don't know why he has to be compared to the rest of the lineup to draw the conclusion that he's not that good. He's missed an average of 35 games a year, the power is not coming out, and his defense is terrible.

Stros upgrade their OF defense by sliding Marisnick to CF, upgrade 3B (Valbuena will start immediately), and get a lottery ticket in Straily.

Lineup will probably be something like

Altuve 2B
Lowrie SS
Carter DH
Springer RF
Gattis LF
Valbuena 3B
Castro C
Marisnick CF
Singleton 1B

What I don't like about this deal is that it appears they will play Gattis in LF which is pretty terrifying. I think Valbuena slides nicely into the lineup though and Straily is intriguing.

If the Cubs can get a full season out of fowler they may have gotten a steal but I don't mind what we got back

Valbuena has a CAREER batting average of .229 and has never hit higher than .249. Is this someone any team would want???

Astros got RAPED.
