As someone who was a big fan, I now say Bob Dylan has been overrated for some time.

Throw their American cousins, "The Lumineers" in there as well. Perfect tv commercial music.

I love RUSH (well, some RUSH) but they are the opposite of critically acclaimed. They are a 'cult' band that was constantly shite on.

I don't get the Neil Young hype, he has three good songs. (Cinnamon Girl, Old Man, and Ohio.)

My My Hey Hey isn't good? Helpless? Keep on Rockin in the Freeworld? Could go on forever. There can be knocks against him, but a lack of library is not a valid one.

That's greatness right there.

Who said Van Halen? Okay, I'll give you the Sammy Hagar years, but the original lineup rocked.

All of his latest stuff is just mumbled words with weird noises in the background. I don't get the obsession with him.

Unique opportunity to do both. I mean, I like Valley Girl, but everything else I've heard has been worse than anything else listed in this terrible thread.

Mumford and Son, Lumineers. Agreed. TV advert muzak, for sure.

LULZ with the bashing of Springsteen and U2. Both may be mere shadows of their former selves, but they were MONSTERS in their prime (and just before it).

The Rolling Stones. What?????

When has AC/DC ever been critically acclaimed?

Bob Dylan doesn´t suck, but the legend is slightly greater than the substance-- IMNSHO.
