I got the email earlier this week, forgot to post it.

Also word around the internet is that silencerco will begin a blue label type program for police, retired/active/discharged vets, firemen, and various other entities.

So if I buy a suppressor for my AR15, would it work for a higher caliber? Would I need a different one for something like a pistol,AR,Bolt in short action...

I'm guessing when you say "higher caliber" you are talking about the difference between a 300 blk out and a 300 win mag. Obviously a 30 caliber suppressor doesn't work on a 35 caliber.

If I'm understanding you right it depends on the suppressor. All suppressors list what calibers they are rated for in the specifications. I have a AAC 762-SDN-6 it is rating for everything up to a 300 win mag.

Yes, I was saying will a suppressor bought for my AR (.22 caliber) handle being put on a threaded barrel bolt action in short action or an AR10.

Something like you posted seems like it would work even to a long action.

If you get a .22 cal can a .30 cal bullet will not fit. You can do just the opposite and use a .30 cal can on a .22 with no issues. You can also replace the .30cal end cap with a .22 end cap. Was told by a silencerco rep that if you do this, it is quieter than their .223 can.

the suppressor is not biased to what type of firearm it is attached to. only the caliber.

my M4-2000 can only shoot 5.56

my SDN-6 can Shoot 7.62 calibers and BELOW. so it can also shoot 5.56, 300blk, .308. etc

i run it on everything from my AR's, to my .308 bolt gun and .260 bolt gun

So to cover most, get a. 30 Cal suppressor and a handgun suppressor or are there adapters for handguns?

i don't think there are any rifle suppressors that can be run on pistols (although I've been wrong before) however, there are some pistol cans that can be run on rifles, for instance, the Silcencerco Osprey .45 can run on an AR chambered in 300BLK

bingo, this will work on a pretty much anything .30 caliber and smaller. But still check to make sure it is rated for the specific caliber you want to shoot.

The other thing to keep in mind is that when you start getting into shooting short mags or any magnum through a suppressor the gun doesn't become "movie quiet". don't get me wrong it reduces the noise to where you don't need hearing protection. The felt recoil will be reduced as well. To get the gun to be silent you have to take the supersonic crack out and that requires using sub-sonics. Shooting sub-sonics out of a magnum rifle defeats the whole purpose of a magnum.
