It seems that this is what Les is doing (though O is a good d line coach)

If so, is it a good idea. Especially when recruiting has not really been Les' issue.

It seems to me we need better coaches not better recruiters.

The only hood thin I've heard about Steele is that he can recruit. Nobody has said anything good about his coaching ability

Just sit back and relax.

Les did well this time around.

No one truly knows what will happen! I know LSU needs a spark and some fire in the training dept. and these guys are that. Now when it comes to game planning, I imagine them all having a part? I'm not too worried about the defense as I am about the QB position and how we move forward with this offense. I know this those stud DTs that are considering LSU have to love this new hire! I think these guys will have them ready to play better than anyone but we will see if they can be put into the position needed to make those plays?!

You win with Jimmy's and Joe's, not X's and O's.

You can be a good recruiter and a good coach too. Ed Orgeron was a fantastic assistant at Miami and USC. He did not succeed as a head coach at Ole Miss. But he returned to position coach duties and helped revive USC. The job he did as interim HC at USC in 2013 was nothing short of amazing. He came very close to keeping the job solely due to his coaching. The dude can flat out coach the defensive line. That's a fact. He also happens to be the second best recruiter of all time, now joining forces with the best recruiter of all time.

Look. I know an average of the 6/7 ranked class seems good on the surface.
But not when there are 2 teams in our division ahead.
It's like saying losing in OT doesn't really matter.
Recruits (and evaluating talent) translate into on the field wins.
I would've preferred a "marriage" of proven DC skill and recruiting prowess. (Shoop/Pendergast + O).
But Hardcore recruiters without a huge dropoff in "strategizing talent" isn't a distant second.

Plenty of people have praised his coaching ability. Corey Raymond is excited to learn from him. Pete Jenkins said he'll get a good cordinator for LSU. Those are just few of many who respect Steele for not only his recruiting ability, but him overall as a coach.

While that might be a bit hyperbolic, I agree with the premise. All 3 guys are very good coaches. The million dollar question is can Steele and the staff put together a game plan and make the right calls on gameday? Because that's the obvious weakness historically in Steel's resume

You don't get to the college level without being a good X's and O's guy.

And both Steele and Orgeron coached in the NFL.

Neither one of the new coaches have proven that they can develop players or coach in game time situations. Steele has been shown to have full blown meltdowns on the sideline. We're in for a really shitty run the next few years.

You saying that Orgeron hasnt proven the ability to develop defensive linemen is the most factually incorrect post that I have ever seen here

Cortez Kennedy, Russell Maryland, Warren Sapp, Shaun Cody etc.

It seems like there's no pleasing some people on this board. Can we please relax and let this thing play out before we "fire" Miles?
