Fairly weak and uninformed analysis.

Raymond is staying DBs are going to be fine
Steele- LBs are his specialty and he's good at coaching them
Orgeron- Major upgrade as far as a coaching standpoint; I bet those DLinemen are not going to expect what's about to hit them.

It is just going to hinge on Steele putting all these great pieces into place to make a play.

And the recruiting is going to take what we've been doing on the trail, and kick it up a few notches.

Now we need an OL coach cause the o-line has sucked for several seasons. If Mett had better blocking last year, who knows? Also if LF had better blocking this season, he would have been in Heisman contention.

Neither one of the new coaches have proven that they can develop players or coach in game time situations. Steele has been shown to have full blown meltdowns on the sideline. We're in for a really shitty run the next few years.

You just can't please some people. I will give you great coaches with average talent and I will take great talent with average coaches. I win 90% of the time. Les did good with these hires.

Where is this player development myth coming from?

There are 3 units on a defensive football field:

1) DL- Oregeron, widely regarded as one of the top DL coaches in the country. History of physicality with his men who attack the qb.

2) LB- Steele, probably can't find a guy including Chavis who has a better pedigree of making All-Americans. Pro and College experience

3) DB- Corey Raymond, since he has been here our pass D has perennially been top 3 in efficiency. They are physical at the line of scrimmage.

So EXPLAIN the frick to me how we have to overcome anything? The only question mark next year is if Steele can make the proper in game adjustments. THATS IT.

It seems dangerous that we're touting this reputation of "best recruiting staff in the land." An analogy that comes to mind would be going to a dealership that touts a reputation of "best car salesmen in the land."

If we just had a bonafide D coordinator to game plan, break down film, look for tendencies, etc...

Someone just to oversee that aspect would make us the best staff in the country.

I'm truly excited. I have great expectations, judging by the mood of the board, for predictions an undefeated season, come August.

When the ball is in the air, I'd rather have the best player on the field than the best coach on the sideline.

They shouldn't have needed to improve. This was a veteran offensive line. Going into the season they were supposed to be something special. I didn't see it. How do you explain last season? How many times did Mett get sacked? How many times did Jennings get sacked? I think you are the Ritard.

We need to wait and see. Nobody can say Steele is a slam dunk to run an effective championship caliber defense.

I don't know about Coach Steele. He looks like a risky hire made as a last resort.

Coach Orgeron is a home run hire, on the other hand. He belongs at LSU.

How many coaching changes does LSU Football have to make before they get it right?

Ohio State seems to have got it right. The fish rots from the head down.

Ask yourself this question...

Can excellent execution overcome a marginally good play call ?

Can an excellent play call negate the need for player execution ?

The margin of error lies with the quality of the player. Recruiting is to the program what blocking is to a play.

Everyone likes to bash Steele for having one bad year at Clemson. They tend forget he put two top 20 defenses on the field the two seasons before the bust. His defense in his 3rd year at Clemson had zero talent on it. The two years prior, mediocre talent at best. So is he really a bad coach?

Coach O is a proven bad arse d-line coach. You can book an upswing is d-line production for next season.

Outside of those two, you've got Corey Raymond who may be the best DB coach in the nation. You've got Jalen Collins, probably our weakest DB, projected to go in the first round by some mock drafts. That should tell you everything you need to know about the respect of LSUs DBs. Raymond makes us DBU.

Players make plays. Period. Scheme isn't worth a shite without talent. As long as we no long pull the 4th and Chavis bull shite, this defense will be ridiculous. Plus, you have 3 coaches now who've won national recruiting honors in Frank, O, and Steele. Pump the breaks poncho. We may have just gotten an upgrade.
