Ok... some of this may have been posted on here before... if so... so be it..

First, I'm not a Miles fan but, in this post I try to be objective. So this is not a trash Miles post.

IMO.. Miles problem is he is afraid to take chances... risks... and especially so in the middle of a game. For whatever reason, he doesn't seem to be able to adjust... to flex... to change.. and especially in a game. Once he decides to start a QB, it doesn't seem to make any difference how bad they are stinking up the joint, he will not pull them. Saw this w/JJ and this year with AJ.
For example... why not play Harris and give him the liberty to throw. Yeah, you might get some pics but, you might also get some great catches... some TD's. Harris really never had that chance because Miles was scared of turnovers.
Miles used to take chances... that's changed in the last couple of years.
Miles has got to be willing for a QB to fail... for a QB to make mistakes. In making mistakes, they will also complete some. Babe Ruth struck out a ton but he also hit a lot of home runs. Michael Jordan didn't make every shot he took. Etc... you get the idea.

When Miles has a QB that he trusts he's not afraid to take risks. Simple as that.

you are probably going to get bashed for it but you are pretty spot on. Les Miles refuses to take risk unless its a trick play. We don't need turnovers left and right but les miles being deathly afraid of them hinders the offense. It makes us shelter quarterbacks and they never develop when we do that.

his other problem is trying to fit players into a system that doesn't work well for them.

I think that he, like Sean Payton, sometimes would rather be right than successful and they are often times blinded by their ego and belief they know the best way and are afraid to just let go and delegate certain things.

Exactly.

i don't know what people saw out of Jennings that makes people think he would get better if he threw more.

And harris clearly just got shut down for the season. Thats the long and short of it. He wasn't going to see time after the Auburn game. Too much on the lin eight each game to risk experimenting with him.

Miles' problem is that he's not Nick Saban and Saban is at a division rival.

I think it is less him regressing, and more teams learning how to take away the few throws he can make.

If you can keep Dural in front of the DBs then you don't really have a ton to worry about.

He does not consistently put the ball in a catchable place, and honestly isn't that great of a runner (which says something for the zone read we ran against A&M)

it's absolutely true.

his philosophy is all wrong now.. ever since 08 screwed him up.

he literally plays every game to try to win it late..

i would much rather have a confident offense who tries to curb stomp early and even if they throw an int or two.. can rebound with confidence.. you got a great D any ways.. build a trust and play your more talented guy who can get the team in the endzone.

harris had 9 total TDs this season in such limited time

while Jennings as the starter all season long with a bowl game had only 11 TDs this season.

that's insane to think about.

Miles may have a lot of "problems" but taking risks is not one of them. He didn't get the name Mad Hatter by throwing tea parties in wonderland...

No link, but I recall something to the effect BH didn't run plays that were called and didn't audible out of obvious bad situations.
Even called his own plays in huddle' but I kinda doubt he'd sign his own bench warrant.

That's not really the point.

The point is: why was the best quarterback (of the 3 on his team) only able to complete 48% of his passes AT THE END OF THE YEAR. This is on the coaches. Somebody - hell Kragthorp - should have been able to complete more than that with adequate coaching by the end of the year.
