Is it better or worse for baseball to keep Bonds/Clemens/Rose out of the Hot?

Many people bitch about how these guys cheated the game and/or broke unwritten rules and as such, baseball has kept them out of the HOF. However, I find that the public tends to take the opposite position.

There seems to be growing support for these guys, and it is at the point where I believe it would be better for baseball's popularity if they were in. What do you think? Would this help or hurt baseball's popularity? What about it's credibility?

There isn't even any proof that Bonds used steroids. That's what is dumb about keeping him out. Or maybe I'm wrong.

I don't know, I'm on both sides of the fence on this.

I think that the steroid era was the most entertaining the game has ever been, and since pretty much everyone was doing it then they should be let in.

Then on the other hand I see the argument that the players in the hall from the past were (as far as we know) clean and adding tainted players diminishes what others did.

ETA: Rose should be in as a player, it's stupid that he isn't. His gambling shite happened when he was a manager.

Worse, of course.

If you're keeping them out, we may as well take out Gaylord Perry and Hank Aaron, guys who have admitted to cheating/taking performance enhancers.

He admitted to using the crema and the clear.

The issue is, there are guys from the past that we know are tainted and yet we still love them. But guys in the present don't get the same benefit of the doubt.

Bonds Clemons Arod Mcgwire and Sosa all clearly belong in the HOF.

Bonds is the GOAT.
Clemons is a top 10 pitcher of all time.
Arod is a top 10 player of all time.
Sosa and Mcgwire are among the top 25 or so hitters of all time.

If you don't think Bonds juiced, you are crazy...

Clemens as well...

However they were HOF caliber players before they started using...

Rose should have been in a long time ago.

But if they keep Bonds and Clemens out, Rose should stay out as well.

Rose should be in no question. Bonds and Clemons probably should be too but I don't really give a shite about either of them.

Doesn't make a difference for a casual baseball fan I assume. And are hardcore baseball fans really gonna stop watching over this?

The baseball HOF seems just to be an arguing point between baseball fans.

Rose broke an explicit rule that is posted in every clubhouse. He violated it knowing full well the consequences. frick him.

Bonds and Clemens engaged in activities tacitly endorsed by the entire baseball establishment, and was only condemned in retrospect. There wasn't a rule about it until they retired. It's ridiculous that the two greatest players of my lifetime are out of the Hall, and it's only because they are both jerks, not because of steroids.

There's already a lot of cheaters in the HOF. What's a couple more?

Being rich & retired dudes, they probably prefer the comfort of the A/C. I don't know if that benefits baseball, though.

Ya, I also think if the league still recognizes your stats then you're in. Pretty silly to have the career and single season HR hitter out of the hall when the league still recognizes them

It's a crying shame Pete Rose is not in the HOF.
