I was surprised at Anna doing a little gossiping. That was probably the most startling scene of the show. She's normally against that sort of thing.
I said the same exact thing to my wife last night.
That was odd.

My favorite part about this season has been the favorable light they've been shining on Robert.
I felt like the past couple of seasons they've presented him as more or less a token aristocrat, mildly brainless and stuffy.
This season, he is the only one who saw the benefit of the proper placement of the WWI memorial.
He then went on to understand the benefits of building up the village but doing it considering conservation of the beauty of the village itself.
He also saw through the art curator from a country mile.
And now, considering the preview at the end of this episode, I'm getting the feeling the women aren't going to be as clever as they think with regard to the story behind Edith's "adopted" child.

I'm sure this story will lead to some sort of certain disaster. I'm surprised Mary didn't raise a ruckus at having this child hanging with her child.

I really cannot stand Mary now. She just comes off as a stuck up bitch now, esp in the way she acts towards Edith. I mean damn....she is your sister...have some sympathy for her.
I'm glad Edith gets to keep her daughter. Can't wait to see when Robert finds out the truth. And I felt bad for poor Mrs Crawley when her fiancée's son was a dick to her at dinner. Loved Violet finally admitting the real reason she doesn't want Crawley to marry.

Mary gets worse every episode, but it's such that I'd rather not even see her. It's not like the evil soap opera villain everyone loves to hate. She's become boring in addition to colder. If she had no part in an episode, I wouldn't miss her.
I'm glad Edith gets the child, too, but I'm not all that interested in it dragging out. I think it's going to be funny when Robert realizes the wool's been pulled over his eyes. He may well not like the child and that could be a problem when he finds out the child is blood. If says things he can't take back, could be trouble. What if he says the child is unattractive or something like that?
Poor Violet believes she's losing her best and only friend. Wonder if she'll tell Mrs Crawley about that? Violet's take on her footman or whoever he is, quitting was hilarious, too.

I like the way she says Spratt.
I think they should name the new dog, Spratt.

This is one of the few TV series that my wife and I enjoy watching together. The setting, costumes, architecture and the characters are all well done.

I'm glad someone agrees!
You think they will cut out the part with the dog's butt in the beginning credits of the show?

I loved that one !

I guess they used the condition of Isis as a way to get him to agree.
women and kids are masters at this.look dad's worried about something else, let's hit him with the bring an orphan into the house idea!
they seem to be using rose's character to break barriers. First the interracial barrier now the religious barrier. But she's the prettiest of the younger generation since sybil left.

really.. after all that she's been through. And now her and bates seem to be settling down. She's going to start gossiping about the family? That won't end well.
i just don't get why they don't just say, look, this is edith's baby and that's that. all of these crazy schemes are going to backfire.
And Mary isn't exactly a saint.. so she shouldn't be saying anything about it. I think Robert would have been more willing to take in his grandchild than an orphan.
And they're killing off the dog !?!??!?

I will ff if it looks like they're going to show that puppy dog pass away. I would have done so during the show this past week when I had to see that doggie allegedly in the current condition.

I think they did it that way to add drama to the show. Obviously, once they take this girl in and tell the world the cockamamie story, the truth will be a much bigger deal. They should just go with the truth and move on along.
I think this is also why they had Gilliam or whatever his name is indicate that because he slept with Mary, he felt obligated to hang around. My how things have changed.

It was sad enough Sunday when Robert took him to bed with him, saying she probably wouldn't last the night...and wanted her to feel loved and not alone as she died...man that was tough.
