For those of you who use climbing stands, how many of you use some kind of harness?

Yep. Definitely have a hunter's safety system for when I climb. It's a requirement at some hunting outfitters. Nice piece of mind sometimes.

If I'm in a climber I'll have a harness.

I have used one a lot. I don't use it correctly though, I generally strap in when in stand. I do love a loc on that has the lifeline on it, I use the harness correctly in those.

I try to remember to wear mine when using a climber but i tend to leave it in the truck or at the house. It is nice to have though.

I'm scared of heights so I don't think I'll be forgetting mine.

Me too. I don't use a climber much anymore. Use your harness and use it correctly.

Never in a climber or ladder. Will never hunt a lock on, but if I had to, I would wear one then.

I have two friends who were badly injured in hunting accidents involving tree stands..one of them broke his neck and was paralyzed until his death a few years ago...

I no longer use climbers and absolutely have a harness on when I am any kind of stand...

I know a couple of people that have nearly died and where severely injured falling out of a tree stand. If you hunt in one please use a harness.

This is my First year in any type of stand (deer hunting for that matter). It's a lock on and I'm wearing a harness in it. I actually kind of like it 'cause I can lean out on it to stretch my back and legs. Also looking at all the cypress knees sticking up out of the marsh below me, I'd sure hate to fall on them. Hell, I fall on them enough just trying to walk to the stand.

If you don't want to wear it for yourself, wear it for your family. That's a phone call I hope I never get or my family ever has to receive. I've seen people fall and my FIL fell a couple years ago now we all have them. I never climb without one..

Always use one. I have a hunters safety vest as well. I fell out of a loc on over 25 years ago when I was "bullet proof" and was lucky to only fracture my ankle. Just not worth the risk to not wear one. I agree with a previous poster, if nothing else , do it for your family.

I used one last weekend. I liked it a lot but after the sun came out and it got a bit warmer I was hot in it after dragging some hogs out so I went with the ultra light. Is the vest supposed to be safer?

What do you mean by a "lock on?"
