To me that Miles is potentially on a short leash. What is Les' buyout after next season? After the next?

Not wanting to lock Chavis might indicate you do not want to hamstring the next coach.

No, I'm not a Miles basher. What say you?

I think it indicates that for some reason, Chavis wasn't 100% comfortable attaching his future to Miles being at LSU.

I think that LSU is gearing up for Miles to "retire" after the 2016 or 2017 season. The only coach who may carry over is Frank Wilson, but i'm betting he gets a mid major gig sooner or later like Larry Porter did.

The truth hurts sometimes, but I suspect this was the case. After all, he's been down this road before with Fulmer.

I do think Sumlin is on a short leash. New big splash DC and his offensive capacity makes for better bet than Les ans Cam and status quo, IMHO.

I'm not so sure.

on Dec 11th Chavis got his new contract. It had the Miles clause.

Miles was a candidate for the Michigan job and it is likely if he was offered he would take it. Meaning that in Chavis mind on dec 11th the contract that was given to them was very risky. He wasn't willing to sign. This Miles clause moved him to be willing to leave for a division rival.

This is a guess on my part, but it has been confirmed that he didn't like the miles clause. You guys think it has to dow with Miles being on the hot seat. I think it's more logical to think it had to do with the Michigan situation and the fact that if Miles was offered he would likely go there. Chavis didn't want a contract that could be worthless within a month of Miles to Michigan ever got serious. There was a decent chance.

Again these are just guesses but they are educated guesses.

When DOES Miles' contract "expire"? I seriously don't know.

don't think that changed anything. Chavis probably made the decision before Harbaugh to michigan was finalized.

No matter what the primary factor was, trust LSU sources reported it wasn't money. the only place I've seen people say that is speculation on the rant.

Again go find some of the tweets and reports. It came down to two things. Miles Clause and years on contract. Maybe it is stupid that it came down to this, but these are what has been reported.
