My wife gave me an early Christmas gift of two Waterford snifters and a $40 gift certificate to the Beer Growler. I will probably do four 32oz fills. Here is their tap list. I am a big fan of stouts but I am always interested in trying new beers.

1. Service : Lincoln's Gift Savannah, GA 5.6% Oyster Stout
A sweet stout brewed with locally harvested May River oysters.

2. Sam Adams : Merry Maker Gingerbread Stout Boston, MA 9% Imperial Stout w/ spices
This rich dark gingerbread stout entices with the aromas of the holidays. The flavor of gingerbread comes alive, beginning with the smooth sweetness and heartiness of dark roasted malts and a touch of wheat. But it’s the intensity and spices of cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, & ginger that add a wicked kick for a jolly playful brew full of merry mischief.

3. Horny Goat : Brownie Porter Milwaukee, Wisconsin 5.6% Porter
Brewed with cinnamon, vanilla, and cacao nibs. Light bodied and sessionable, this beer traverses the line between brown ale and porter.

4. Red Brick : 21st Anniversary Atlanta, GA 9.5% Dark Saison - Barrel Aged (Rum)
Spicy yeast aroma and notes of dark fruit and toasted marshmallow. Add an extended aging in South American rum barrels, which brings notes of woody vanilla from oak, caramel sweetness, and a complex rum character.

5. Highland : Thunderstruck Asheville, NC 5.8% Coffee Porter
Brewed with Honduras Macala Coffee, this robust porter has a full body with some hints of chocolate.

6. Red Hare : Sticky Stout Marietta , GA 6.5% Oatmeal Stout
Roasted malts lend to the a dark color, and hints of chocolate and coffee. The addition of oats balance these flavors and give it smooth full body, a light sweetness, and a sticky mouth feel finish.

7. Port Brewing : Santa's Little Helper San Marcos, CA 10% Imperial Stout
anta’s Little Helper, our Imperial Stout, starts with an emphasis on dark cocoa and roasted coffee aromatics. The finish lends hints of sweet crystal malt, warming tones of alcohol and a touch of hops, making a perfect accompaniment to leftover fruit cake and sugar cookies.

8. Gouden Carolus : Tripel Mechelen, Belgium 9% Tripel
Aroma of sweet fruit and yeast. Taste is full, creamy, and rich.

9. Ommegang : Hop House Cooperstown, NY 6% Belgian Pale Ale
Hop House combines the delicious aromas and flavors of a Belgian-style ale with generous hopping, including dry-hopping. A well-balanced, yet ample, hop character defines this fine pale ale.

10. Three Taverns : Single Intent Decatur, GA 5% Abbey Single
With a spicy, herbal aroma from French Strisselspalt hops, this crisp and complex ale is too good to keep cloistered.

11. Monday Night : Gun Show Atlanta, GA 8% Belgian Strong Ale
This spicy Belgian-style strong ale has been infused with pears and the residual sugars are reminiscent of fresh honey.

12. Ommegang : Three Philosophers (Belgian Quad) Cooperstown, NY 9.8% Quadrupel
A blend of Ommegang's Quadruple and Leifman's Kriek. Cherries, caramel, sweet tones in the aftertaste. Balanced, and hides the alcohol well.

13. Highland : Gaelic Ale Asheville, NC 5.8% Amber/Red Ale
A medium body that is nicely balanced between malty sweetness and hoppy bitterness.

14. Smuttynose : Big A IPA Portsmouth , NH 9.2% American Imperial IPA
Ridiculously strong notes of pine resin, grapefruit pith and pressed-petal florals throughout.

15. Heavy Seas : Loose Cannon Halethorpe, MD 7.25% IPA dry-hopped w/Simcoe
A deep orange fairly hoppy IPA made with Cascade and Bravo hops.

16. Southbound : Hop'Lin Savannah 6.5% IPA
A smooth, medium bodied American with intense citrus/pine aroma and taste accompanied by a slight hint of caramel.

17. Green Flash : Citra Session IPA San Diego, CA 4.5% Session IPA - Hops (Citra )
Brewed with high-quality Marris Otter and Vienna malt but the flavor is dominated by the Citra hops introduced throughout the boil and again in the dry hop for maximum aroma intensity. Notes of lemon, orange and grapefruit make this hop-laden brew a perfectly potable summer session IPA.

18. Moon River : Apparition Savannah, GA 4.8% English Pale
This English pale ale features ingredients imported from the U.K. This beer is driven by malt flavors of caramel and toast, earthy and herbal hop aroma, along with a fruity English ale yeast character.

19. Founders : Reds Rye Grand Rapids, MI 6.6% Rye IPA
Hop bitterness, along with an unyielding grapefruit bouquet from the Amarillo dry hop, balances the malty richness of four varieties of imported Belgian caramel malts.

20. Victory : Wild Devil Downingtown, PA 6.7% Wild/Sour IPA
Bold, spicy, menacingly delicious HopDevil takes on an entirely new dimension when subjected to a wild yeast fermentation. A sharp, sourish edge has been added by this fermentations that plays into the caramel sweet malt deliciously and creates complex interplay with citrus accented hops.

21. Service : Compass Rose Savannah, GA 5.8% IPA
This American-style IPA balances a medium-bodied malt presence with a bitterness that does not overpower. Hop forward taste and refreshing citrus and floral notes.

22. Sierra Nevada : Celebration Chico, CA 6.8% IPA
Generous portions of barley malts and fine whole hops of several varieties, create a brew with a full, rich and hearty character

23. Lagunitas : Dogtown Pale Ale Double Dry Hopped Petaluma, CA 7.1% Dry Hopped Pale Ale

25. Sam Adams : The Vixen Boston, MA 8.5% Doppelbock w/ Chilies, Cinnamon and Cocoa

26. Mother Earth : Dark Cloud Dunkel Vista, CA 5% Dunkel
"Dunkel" means dark in German, but don’t let the color fool you, it is by no means heavy, overbearing, or bitter. In fact, it proves to be a very drinkable session beer.

27. Highland : Cold Mountain Asheville, NC 5.8% Winter Ale
A slightly mahogany color with a nose of vanilla and bready malts and a touch of winter spices.

28. Shiner : Holiday Cheer Shiner, TX 5.4% Dunkelweizen

29. Red Brick : Hibiscuwit Atlanta, GA 5% Witbier

Not sure what you typically like, but that Horny Goat Brownie Porter was really good when I had it.

This one for sure:

I'm not sure about number 2... a lot of those breweries I've never tried before. I'd probably try the Southbound Hop'Lin but that's just because it's new to me.

You're averaging 3 beer threads per week. Did you just turn 21?

I'd get Loose Cannon for sure. Like Heavy Seas a lot. Probably Cold Mountain and the Brownie Porter as well. That'd be 3 very different styles to rotate through and keep things fresh.

Not the Southbound Hoplin or the Service Compass Rose. They will always be available.

There's a daily thread, you know. Great resource. A lot of discussion about beer and a lot of good natured bullshitting. You could just post your questions there. You'd almost certainly get a response.

just an idea

I'm a big fan of pretty much anything Ommegang puts out. You can get Three Philosophers year round, but it is an excellent beer. It's got a cherry taste to it, so it would be nice at Christmas.

Sierra Nevada and Lagunitas have a similar high batting average for making really good beers. Can't go wrong with them.

Dogfish Head are really strong and that peach beer looks like it would be in my wheelhouse. I like sours.

Bell's has an excellent rep, but I'm not cuckoo about white ales.
