Who here owns and hunts with an AK?

I own and hunt with one on occasion. I use irons and am comfortable at killing deer and hogs to 150. 200 is stretching it with irons for me.

I'm looking at the IO M214 which is American made. Also looking at a 6.8 spc. I want a cool hog rifle.

Own one. Don't hunt with it. Although, I would shoot at a hog at 200 yards with a slingshot if given the chance.

Maybe off-topic, but a lot of the 300 Blackouts have really dropped in price, as has the ammo.
Pretty decent ballistics for hogs out to 200 yards & decent capacity for follow-up shots (in case you encounter a big "flock" of 'em).

my cousin built a 12" 6.8 specifically for helicopter hunting because 5.56 wasn't stopping them

Maybe an AK with iron sights, but I've never been a fan of the way scopes mount on the AK platform.

My Dad used to kill deer with his SKS and never had any problems.

I think 100 yards would be really pushing it to make an ethical shot with an AK iron sites.

I've only ever used mine to shoot hogs.
