If by "just got real", you mean something happened over a year and 8 months ago, then yeah. The article you linked is dated April 5, 2013.

Looks like a DOS attack that started Saturday and progressivly deteriorated in to Monday when their shite went down entirely.

Obama: "here. try this little appetizer"

Im sure the white house was provided a range of options not unlike what the Pentagon would do for the military. He probably opted for a "shot across the bow".

love it.

Just heard a WSJ tech reporter stationed in South Korea: "It's possible that North Korea has experienced many of these internet outages and no one noticed."

If a disruption of service attack can bring down their internet infrastructure then they have none at all.

Its not even hacking, its more of a pain in the arse. Its happened to Xbox live and PSN and they restore service pretty fast. No way NK has those kind of engineers or technicians.

Which is why I said earlier in the thread that it's pretty likely that if NK did it (which seems like the most reasonable explanation) they did it from another country or countries.

They're a prop. I'm not sure why that's their thing, but his dad was often photographed with binoculars. It makes it look like you're surveying something, and really leading, but you could do the same just by having pictures of him in front of his troops or something.

Also, is it just me, or does he look like he's a totally different race from everyone else in the picture?

The binoculars represent looking across the DMZ at the enemy. It demonstrates resolve and diligence.

It makes sense when he does that. It's just weird that they've taken to carrying them around everywhere.

ETA: I guess it's their sign of constant vigilance; sort of like how the football is always with our presidents.
