Haven't been on a college campus in a long time. But back at Centenary when I arrived on campus a girl had not reported a sexual assault in 20 years. I think they were actually disappointed.

During my 4 years there were no assaults. And we only had 1 security guy, Smitty. He was 60 years old. And he only worked night shift. There was no security during the day.

Why didn't she say 1 out of 100?

So if you went to a school that has 20,000 students, assuming 10,000 are female, then that would be 100 sexual assaults at a school of 20,000 students.

Because she was playing off the 1 out of 5 quote by Obama. Obama could have said '20 out of 100.'

It depends on your definition of sexual assault.

Some people consider telling a girl at a bar she has nice tits assault.

Some consider even glancing at the breasts of a girl who has them hanging out of her shirt an assault.

Very funny.
I'm not gonna look it up but I think CC went coed around 1890 (founded in 1825).
I recall during my 4 years that the girls were very ugly. When I told that to a friend who went to LSU he dismissed it. I said "Are cheerleaders generally better looking than the average girl at the college?"
Him: Sure
I took out a Centenary yearbook and showed him the cheerleaders.
Him: "Holy crap. They're hideous!"

Or that video of the woman walking around New York, recording all the cat calls she received.

She considered "good morning" a cat call.

But the "1" could have also been the constant. And it makes more sense to read 1 out of 100 instead of 0.05 out of 5.

Kind of a silly thing to nit. Good for deflection, though.

Exactly.

Me thinks that when the one's doing the defining have a vested interest in getting the number as high as possible, the definition tends to get pretty broad.

I posted this before but it bears repeating. The last time I was at Harvard I saw signs in all the hallways from "The Sexual Abuse Hotline". It said "There are many forms of abuse. Does your boyfriend every disagree with you? Does he ever change the channel from the TV show you are watching? Call the Hotline".

My conclusion was that none of the Harvard girls were calling the hotline because there is no sexual abuse. So, the Hotline workers decided to expand the definition so they could keep their jobs.

Glad to see that when someone you don't like cites a government study, it renders the study itself moot.

Can't wait to use this technique...
