It depends on your definition of sexual assault.

Some people consider telling a girl at a bar she has nice tits assault.

Exactly. Sadly, it doesn't even have to go that far. For some, a guy simply telling a girl "hey, you look really good in that shirt" is enough to warrant an incident of "sexual assault" (even though it may not be a violation of state law)

These stats are generally over-inflated or under-inflated depending on what side of the argument you are on.

I started a thread last week where I posted a link to the actual DOJ study.

Absolutely. The commonly referenced study included unwanted kissing, which at it's mildest is pretty silly to call sexual assault, but could certainly be called such if taken to a point, well before penetration.

Interesting how they draw a line at the mean, making the incidence look steady over time, when a regression line would show the incidence decreasing over time.

According to a 2014 report from the United States Bureau of Justice Statistics covering the period 1995 to 2013, 0.2% (200 per 100,000) of women aged 18–24 enrolled in a college, university or trade school were victims of rape. A total of 0.6% (600 per 100,000) experienced any kind of sexual assault or attempted sexual assault, with approximately 50% occurring at home or away from campus. Nonstudents (65,700) also accounted for more than double the number of rape and sexual assault victimizations as students (31,300).

For the year 2013, the study found that college aged women (regardless of enrollment status) were more likely to be sexually assaulted at 4.3 per 1,000 (0.4%) and than other women at 1.4 per 1,000 (0.1%). The study also found that the rate of sexual assault has been falling steadily since 1995, from a peak of 0.9% in 1997 to the current 0.4%.

So we've cut sexual assault by over 50% in 20 yrs, but now it's suddenly a problem. Sounds like a War on Women political narrative heating up. Doesn't it though?

Interestingly, rape of males on campus occurs at about 1/3rd the rate of females. That stat may be rising. Not sure.

But what influence does removing obvious outliers like Ole Miss have on the statistics?

I hope it's not the same "almost certainty" as I had that Georgia was going to beat Georgia Tech after Georgia was winning with only 18 seconds left in the game.

I am sure some idiots will turn around and claim that Obama is right and that 19 in every 20 women that is sexually assaulted, doesn't report it.

It really is amazing how easily some people, including a sitting president can just pull numbers out of thin air.

I find as an article, it relies too heavily on facts, without citing sources.

I am not saying they don't exist, but if you are reading it with some semblance of objectivity, you are forced to be skeptical.
