Whats the OB's stance on hooded mergansers? One of our normal wood duck holes is full of them this year and debating whether to slay them this weekend or just knock down a pair for a mount.

Here is the best way to cook a merganser.

Mount the merganser to a seasoned oak board and slow cook it over an open fire. Baste the merganser with your favorite sauce every 30 minutes.

After 4 hours, take the merganser off the oak board and throw away the merganser and eat the board.

I try to pass but when you shoot one it usually results in many more getting blasted.

I will say this, you screwed up shooting all those drakes. Shoot the hens, that way they can't lay again next year.
