What Alleva needs to do is put together a small group (no more than 3) LSU people who are trustworthy, and who do have a real understanding of LSU football, our traditions, and LSU's needs - to do the actual searching and interviewing, and maybe even put together a job description (if that is something that is needed?) before anything else happens. Not politicians and not bean-counters.

1. Won a championship at some level either as an assistant or head coach. I'm not saying Super Bowl or National Title - would be great- but some sort of championship.
2. A reputation as a great recruiter. This is a must. LSU cannot afford to hire a "so-so" recruiter.
3. The ability to bring excitement to an increasingly apathetic fan base. Whether it be by reputation, personality or style of play the fan base desperately needs a shot in the arm. A Mike Riley type - while a great coach - would be a PR disaster.

A guy like that has just gotta be looking for a job, right?

I kind of like of Holliday. But he has been in West Virginia virtually his entire career.

His positional coaching and recruiting are top shelf.

I agree but do you think he's waiting for Holgerson to fall on his face at WVU?

do you really think alleva is going to put on the big boy pants and run this search? I just don't see it. He got bullied by daddy dale and collie temple to hire Jones. He wont be allowed to make this hire, the TAF probably has a firm and is making some back room calls.

Alleva isn't even fit to hire minor coaches

I believe that if this should take place which I have my doubts, I believe that there will be a lot more people involved with the search than ole joe.

Does anyone really trust Alleva to make a good hire? I don't.

We ALWAYS are--2012, 2013, 2014--but look where we've ended up. Going into 2015, I think we're in the bottom of the top 20 maybe. Whoever the HC is next year, the job should be to take this #17 or #18 team and coach 'em up to FINISH in the top 5-10.

It's not where you start, but where you finish. LSU will not finish in the top 5.

Patterson should be the #1 target. He's a serious defensive coach that isn't afraid of offense. He has turned a nothing program into a title contender and isn't a flash in the pan. I think with the resourcea of an LSU, he would challenge Saban for best coach in the country.
