So, with UAB's demise, do we see other struggling programs follow?

With cost skyrocketing, I feel the Blazers are the first of many that will either go down to a different level or call it quits.

No, unless Paul Bryant Jr gets on other BOTs.

Word on the street is the University of Alabama will use their thug tactics to put South Alabama's new football program into the grave.

South Alabama's football program is a dead man walking now that UAB is out of the way. I think LSU will follow suit though and put ULM, Southern, Grambling, ULL, La Tech, and some others out of their misery as well.

Do all those schools operate under the same board as LSU does? If so, does the LSU board actively work to try and tear those programs down?

If not, then no. Only reason UAB football is not successful is bama's fear of such success.

that would be like America being scared to go to war with Bolivia.

See UNO basketball & baseball when LSU tried to shut them down.

Remember, going back to 1977 Bear didn't want them to have a basketball team. All these guys are like a mule team. They've tried to sabotage the school forever. They won't have anything but intramurals by 2025. It took UAB forever just to get dorms.

Truth of the matter is that UAB's demise is Auburn's gain. Auburn will come out much stronger because of this power play by UAT.

None of these schools are in the LSU system so good luck with that.

Southern, Grambling,

Not to mention these schools are probably untouchable for obvious reasons. Political grenade.

Remember the outrage over merging SUNO and UNO? And don't even bring up SUNO's academic record, it matters not a whit to SUNO's constituency.

ULM don't lose enough money per year to be cut. They run a very tight budget and don't have a lot of waste in their bottom line.

ULL have a following. La Tech have a following.

The HBCU twins are not only FCS, but they are also hand grenades - as Teddy so rightfully put it.

Id say a lot more students would benefit from athletic scholarships if shutting down a hopeless football program would allow other sports to be offered. M

Whats your problem?

LSU doesn't have the power to mess with those schools and they also aren't crazy enough to think those schools will ever be on the same level playing field

ULM has the lowest budget in FBS and they have defeated a top 10 team, made a bowl, and made the baseball playoffs recently. Also this summer they announced that they had raised enough private funds to build a new fieldhouse for football. It is really impressive actually.
