who makes the best?
which do you prefer? Galvanized or Aluminum?
regular hubs, those greaseless hubs or the sealed oil?
this will be a single axle.

McClain make a pretty good aluminum trailer. Had 1 with sealed hubs. Didnt like the idea of them being sealed tho. Something about dropping the hubs in saltwater when loading the boat didnt sit well with me. Maybe it was because I didnt know much about them.

ive had an aluminum backtrack trailer that came with my xpress for almost 4 years now. The only thing i have done to it is change the leafs due to rusting. it has the vortex sealed bearings and i havent had one issue yet with them. The only thing i plan on doing to it is replacing the carpet with bunk covers instead of carpet and led lights. i prefer aluminum anyday after owning one. and the hell with greasing hubs. if you fish saltwater, spray your leafs with galvanizing spray to help prevent rusting as fast.

just got a quote from mcclain. about 2,000 for a base aluminum trailer with the vault hubs. I think its the same thing as vortex.
upgrades:

saltwater package (ss bolts and inner fender pads) - $175
transom saver roller - $40
aluminum wheels - 105 each

1)Alum frame
2)Torsion axles
3)"Flow though" spindles/hubs (greaseable)
4)LED lights

Most of the above will add cost, but that thing will last a long time with minimal maintenance, and in the long run it may be less overall money for the life of the trailer.

That's what I have except that mine is a tandem axle. It's been a good trailer. Mike Gerald really talks up those vault hubs.

Two years ago I would have recommended what others have already suggested. About a year ago I was in the market for a new trailer and did some research. The one name that kept popping up was Sport Trail out of Bay St. Louis Ms who makes custom boat trailer. I talked with the owner, got a price and then brought my boat in. The price was about $400 more than the stock trailers but I wanted a few custom features and figured it was worth the extra $$.

In a couple of weeks it was ready and when I picked it up I was blown away by the quality of the trailer. They even added a few more custom features we didn't talk about for no additional charge.

They don't have a web site but do a search for them and you will get back nothing but positive reviews.

A few forums where they are discussed.
