I'm all for protecting the player but the penalty is so severe. They just ejected a Virginia tech player on a very questionable call. Theirs also been a couple in the last few lsu games. Is there any other form of a penalty we could use that doesn't result in them missing game time?

Blame the lawsuit in NOLA and former NFL players, not the officials.

I know it's not the refs fault, they're just calling the game as their told to call it.

That's my main point as well. 15 yard penalties aren't a joke, they hurt. If data shows that the ejection doesn't lower the head to head collisions then the NCAA needs to be kicked in the fricking nuts.

You can say it's a bad rule but that was absolutely the correct call. Precisely the type of hit the rule was designed for.

At least they are reviewable now, both penalty and ejection.

Blame ESPN and Sportscenter and the Top 10 for glorifying these showboat highlight hits, particularly on receivers/reverse direction defenders. Kids don't tackle, they go for the highlight reel hit.

They've been hit with it before, no reason to think it couldn't happen again.

When the targeting stops, they will let up on the ejection rule. I agree with the rule...until it hurts my team.

Not by definition of the rule. You can't even really argue that.

Blame the kids that are going half retard on behalf of the concussions. You target? You're out. Simple way to not be affected is to not target.

It was designed to stop dudes from launching themselves with the crown of the helmet into offensive players heads.

It was not made with the idea to kick out guys who had the bad luck get a helmet to helmet hit b/c the WR ducked his head at about the same time they brought their head down when trying to dislodge the ball on a bang bang play.

I would settle for, you know, them doing away with the ejection.

Not going to happen; if anything, the amount of hitting is going to get even more restricted, not less.

And unfortunately, I don't see it happening anytime soon.
