Are we a better team today than we were early on in the season?

Clearly we are much better defensively than we were early on, largely due to Beckwith becoming the man at LB. And I think the OL has improved as well.

But as a team? I think we have regressed. Early on in the season, Jennings was still an unknown to opponents. Nobody knew what he was. Did he just have a bad game and is better than he is? Now teams know he's the worst QB in college football so they sell out to stop the run. And we're extremely predictable.

And I think the QB situation has been a strain to everyone on the team. I think the OL is tired of having to block 9 in the box with 6 guys and when it's not successful they get bashed(Arky game). I think the RBs are tired of having to run vs 9 in the box and get bashed when it's not successful. Our WRs are tired of being open and the QB not even look his way or he sees them and then throws a horrible pass.

And I think our D is just flat out tired. Tired of seeing our O go 3 and out repeatedly. Tired of having all the pressure on them and if they give up just 10+ points we most likely will lose. To their credit, they are still playing their asses off and doing a fantastic job. If the D would have struggled like they did early on, this season would have been so much worse.

When it looks like the team is tired and almost lethargic out there, you need to at least try to give this team a spark and some energy out there. We haven't even tried to do that and I think that is really bringing team moral down. Just give Harris a series here and there and see how the team responds. That's all. But that's a different debate.

So do you think we have progressed the year as a team? Regressed? Same as we were week 1?

Well we didn't.

Was the high point of the season almost beating Bama for some people?

And did you not see the Arky game?

Do you not understand that losing that game took the wind out of this team?

Finishing that game would have changed the entire season and it's not that hard to comprehend.

Not if they still got shut out by Arky a week later. In fact, it would sting even more.

Regressed. The season started with a young struggling team that fought to the end to beat Wisconsin. Cupcakes let the offense roll and everyone thought we were evolving into a special team. Defense came together and things were looking up. Even got back up after MS and AU beat the brakes off. Ole Miss win - rolling now, but with QB concerns. Bama loss - deflated the team and set up for Arky shutout. Out of the rankings, the joke of the SEC, and still no QB production or adjustment.

Total chaos in the fanbase, no answers from the coaches, and a not so bright horizon.

Yes I would call that regression at its finest.

You know it would have changed the entire season how? Oh and Bama was the 3rd to last game of the year. After the Bama game it was just Arky and TAMU left on the schedule. So no it would not have changed the entire season.

Losing to Bama didn't take the wind out of our D, they still showed up and played solid vs Arky. And our offense had little to no wind in their sails to begin with. They were bad before the Bama game, they were bad during the Bama game, and they were bad after the Bama game. What would beating Bama have changed? Jennings would all of a sudden become an average QB? We would have a passing attack? Our offense would all of a sudden be putting up 35points a game? All of our issues would just disappear?

Oh and we still lost to Bama. That's a fact. Your scenario isn't real because we lost to Bama.

this, oline play did improve some but there's not much those guys can do against nine-man boxes

You know how it wouldn't have?

I'll play your stupid thread that bashes the program.

D progressed
O regressed
Special Teams stayed same

Losing to #1 and #3 was expected with our young team.

Beating Bama would have increased our momentum after the Ole Miss win.

Yea pretty much... Like I said, our offense was bad before Bama, bad vs Bama, and bad after Bama. And I think we all agree that offense, specifically QB play, is by far our biggest issue. Beating Bama wouldn't magically fix that.

I do agree that it would have increased our momentum, but what we saw vs Arky wasn't surprising. Offense is bad, QB play is horrible, OL and running game going agaianst a stacked box, and D playing solid and keeping us in the game as long as they possibly can. That's the same thing we saw vs Ole Miss and Bama. The difference is the Ole Miss and Bama game were at home.

Our OL did struggle vs Arky though, but Arky has a top 20 run D and sold out 100% to stop the run. But pretty much every team has done that. Stop the run. Force Jennings to beat you. And he can't do it. Beating Bama doesn't magically fix that. Just like beating Ole Miss didn't magically fix our issues.

And bashing the program? Saying the team regressed and that the QB situation and play has become a strain on the entire team is bashing the program? Pretty much said the exact same thing you did when you played my stupid thread.

they improved for a few games but against arky they were fricking horrible. Grimes probably should be let go at the end of the season.

I'm not sure what the purpose of the original post is. You asked for opinions, complete with three options, then want to argue with anyone who gives an opinion? Why ask for opinions if you're just going to argue with those who comply? Message boards are odd places sometimes.
