I'll stick to my turbo, manual transmission, and adjustable dampers. Way more fun than what I typically see on the enterprise lot. To each their own.

That's nothing. I drove my Land Cruiser with 450,000 miles on it down to Panama (country) and back and wasn't worried. It now has 560,000 miles, runs, but is retired. You must drive an American car.

It's a pretty good idea for long trips and usually inexpensive because the rental agencies do weekend specials.

I've never rented a car. Are you really not charged for the amount of miles you put on it? Just the amount of days?

I rent a smaller car for trips. The last trip was to the LSU Bama game. It takes 3+ tanks of gas in my Yukon... I rented a Small crossover Ford SUV. It used so much less gas that I actually saved $20 on the 5 day rental Plus gas versus just gas for the Yukon.

I enjoy the comforts of my truck, so no. In fact, tomorrow morning I'm leaving for a ~2000 mile trip to and from Kansas to go shoot some ducks. Gonna have my whole truck bed loaded down with gear and a dog. Couldn't and wouldn't do that in a rental. 2013 F150 4x4

I had a Chevy Lumina that finally had a major mechanical issue at 419,000 miles. Engine was still working just fine. It ended up being one of the cars blown up in Battle L.A.

I can't say I would do it just to keep mileage off my current car, as I don't think the mileage depreciates your car as much as the rental costs...

now, if you do it because you want a more practical car (i.e. more dependable, more fuel effecient, larger, etc.) then that is a good reason to do it...

When going to the beach.

Mainly the in laws do it and then I just drive the truck they rent to haul shite. Keeps sand out of our rides.

2-3 Florida trips and a trip to Durango Colorado.

It makes sense.

This.

Good god, you folks are worried that much about a couple hundred bucks (maybe) worth of depreciation over the life of owning the car?
