Joe Alleva is the problem. He has extremely low standards of excellence for all the LSU Athletic programs.

He's not the problem, he's just the symptom. The good ole boy politicos who run the school are and always have been the problem. And they are, indirectly, the people we choose (we actually elect the people who appoint them). We get what we deserve, both for the school and the state as a whole. Stupid people elect stupid people who appoint stupid people who do stupid things. We have no one to blame but ourselves (well, not me any more since I don't live or vote in La. any more, but still the point is the same).

All the talent in the world cannot overcome poor coaching and win a championship. Less than the best coaching in both football and basketball. Recruiting just keeps them in the winning season category and we overpay based on the recent results.

On the highest paid coaches list, how many of them have better seasons than 13-1, 10-3, and 10-3 the previous 3 seasons?

Credible site. And it's still 6th on that list out of the 14 team conference.

Annnnnnnnnnnd you're missing the point.

The offense wasn't an issue last year for once but let's not act like it was otherworldly. It's been the offense and QB play for several years. This is not isolated.

Talking 2014 and the direction of the program. 1/9 forward
Just because some other school may overpay has nothing to do with our decisions. Alleva never should have given that extension 2 years ago when ARK supposedly was interested in Miles.

Well of course you are. Can't count anything good the program has done.

Based on the actual results, we actually aren't overpaying. I know that gets in the way of all the hate.

Mett got drafted in the first? Or was ever projected to go anywhere near the first?

Hill?

Landry?

Mett, Landry and Becham are all playing at a first round level. Hill is too if there is such a thing for running backs. Where they were drafted doesn't affect their ability. It is becoming more clear with their NFL success that it was talent on the field rather than a system.

They weren't first round players.

They still weren't first rounders.

And yet they still didn't get drafted in the first round.

If they had first round ability, more than 1 of those guys would have gone in the first.

I know the anti-Miles crowd doesn't like facts, but this is just sad.

So 6th in the conference is good for 13th nationally and that's an LSU problem?

No. My reply was to a comment about how LSU didn't have a highly rated offense last year. They did.

Doesn't mean they've been a good offense for years. They haven't. But if we're talking about last year, as the poster I quoted was, LSU certainly had a good offense. Only a simpleton would claim otherwise
