My brother and I are the only ones that got flu vaccinations because we both work in hospitals. My parents and cousin who lives with us didn't get it this year. My parents normally do, but they've been just busy with vietnamese new years coming up they haven't had the time.

Last 2 weeks, my parents, one after another, are bed-ridden with the flu. My cousin just got it today.

My gf's family got the flu one after another the past month (total 5 people), she's the only one that works in a clinic, so she got her vaccination and she's the only one okay.

Word of advice, get it if you know someone with the flu!

Or someone with a halfway decent immune system.

I've only gotten one once in the past 7 or so years. The one year I did I got sick and stayed sick all winter. Other wise i normally get sick once a year. Either going into winter or coming out of it but it's never too bad. But I won't get another flu shot. That year was miserable

It beats autism. I'd say they made the right choice.

Got my shot this week. This is the second year that I had to go to a drug store to get the shot because my primary care doctor was OUT!

Here's a question - if employees were granted unlimited paid sick day leave by an employer (some on here thinks that's a wonderful idea) would you be willing to risk getting the flu in order to be able to stay home?

I had the swine flu when it was going around a few years ago. I had the chills so bad I was taking scalding hot showers to stay warm. I swore I'd get the flu shot after that. I haven't, despite getting the flu again year before last

I should get it this year, but I hate needles.

I caught swine flu the night before the first LSU game in '09. My mom came and got me from college house so I didn't pass it on to my roommates (they made the pledges sanitize my room ). I could barely hold my head up and I learned that week of the greatness that is an electric blanket.

Flu shots are for babies and old people. I've had the flu 2-3 times in my life (23 years old) and it rarely lasted for more than 48 hours. I got the flu shot 1 time in college and that's the year I got the flu. I'll take my chances.

All it takes is catching a bad strain of the flu once and the people in here saying they won't get it will change their mind quick.

That's some great Anecdotal evidence there. I'm sure the CDC will revise their flu shot recommendation based on your experience.

Every year I don't get the shot, I get sick. Employer has the workplace health people over 3x's in October to offer free shots for us so I take full advantage. Imagine that.

Or you most likely never was around anyone with the flu. Most people who say they have the flu, just have a cold.
