Remember, almost 2 years ago Miles floated rumors he was going to Arky

to get a new 7-year deal
so when you have issues wondering if it's OK to feel bad for him, remember this episode to remind you that he's more than just the goofy, grandfather-looking guy. he is a cold, calculating actor who will use the emotions of the fanbase for his own self interests
he is not this super nice and loveable guy. that's just an act for the public. he will lie to your face if he gets ahead
also, remember Joe Alleva either was complicit in this (to give him reason to give the new deal) or fell for it, too. he shouldn't be trusted to make a replacement hire (whenever that may be) for these rasons
*ETA: and if you don't want to believe that this was a PR move, then Les was seriously considering leaving the team while the year was still going on. that doesn't exactly make him look better (it makes him look worse)

Hopefully Jeff Long takes the Michigan AD job and brings Les with him.
Time to go home to Big Blue boys

yep no one should feel bad for this retard. He is very well compensated and this team is 100 percent his doing since it is year 10.
Also I think TAF would put the lock down on Joe Alleva and run the coaching search.

Nobody should feel bad for a guy making the salary he gets. Comes with the territory.
Hopefully Alleva seeks counsel from the right people when the time comes to make a replacement hire

You seem to think this isn't coaching contracts 101.
Even your idol did this as recently as last offseason.

Somebody else on this board summed it up very well after an earlier loss: Miles is every bit as arrogant in his own way as Saban is. He just has this little retard act going on that he hides behind, so people don't really see it.

This times 1000.
Talk to people from Michigan, Ok St. or Colorado who know him or know of him.

SlowFlowPro, well said, even the most ardent Miles lovers will not admit that he is an a--hole and there are several stories out there that proves that he is not Mr. Nice Guy as so many are fooled into thinking. My father in law was at a Grid Iron club a few years back in Gonzales where he witnessed Miles making a young lady feel like an arse in front of everybody about giving him a birthday cake. True story and anyone from the Gonzales Grid iron club that was at the meeting can testify to the fact. Miles is not who you think he is.

Damn fine post sir. But I'm sure by tomorrow its will be disputed by the same rambling bambling bs we've grown accustomed to on here.

Welp SFP, that settles it.
This guy's FIL has cracked the case of a-hole Miles and the birthday cake. Hell, practically the whole town of Gonzales seent it.

my biggest concern about les leaving is alleva fudging the hire. dude got strong-armed by the dale brown/CT barbeque society in to hiring jones (remember that joke of a coaching "search"?)

well jones is his shining point of defense

Most of Les' current and former players talk highly of him, so as far as being cold & calculating and putting himself in a position to get paid, yes. But I do think he's a lovable & genuine guy towards his players. I'd guess that at least 1/2 of the fan base including myself do not like Les being the HC at LSU, and Les knows that. But, his career winning percentage means nothing can be done until he strings about 2 or 3 more of these type seasons in a row.
I personally know a few former highly intelligent players that played for both Les & Nick. Guess what, you don't get much out of them when you ask certain types of questions. But you can definitely read their facial expressions when it comes to who they'd rather play for. They were recruited by Nick though, so that's that.

probably his best hire and the word on the skreets was he wanted the guy from lehigh
Posted on 11/16/14 at 10:30 am to SlowFlowPro
People that have dealt with him on a professional level generally don't find him to be a likable person, or even a 'quality person' to use one of his terms of art.

He has an agent dipshit.
