Making people go to the eye doctor every time they need new contacts is a joke

I see just fine with my current contacts, all I need is another couple of boxes of the exact same lenses. Why do I have to spend the unnecessary time and money to get a new Rx?

I feel you. I used to be in the same boat until I started odering my contacts from 1-800-contacts. All you need is your contact prescription and you're good.

They don't verify the prescription with the doctor?

My prescription limits the number of pairs I can order. I can stretch my prescription online by wearing my two week lenses for a month. 1-800 Contacts shouldn't be letting you indefinitely use an old prescription.

Doesn't your prescription need to be renewed annually by a doctor?

So you are against having an eye exam every year?

I feel your pain, but the vision exam also checks the health of your eye. Contacts can cause some really nasty problems, especially if you don't wear them correctly.

I'd go once a year for the new prescription, and then get more contacts from 1-800-Contacts. They do clear the prescription with the doc, but I don't see you needing to do that more than once a year unless your eyes suck or you're getting screwed over by something.

ETA: If you're complaining about going once a year, you know they test for other stuff right? Cataracts, glaucoma, etc. Stuff that's good to know about.

Lens.com is even cheaper than 1800contacts and will let you use old perscriptions.

Yes. My former optometrist denied mine even though the script had a month left. Assholes.

The mandatory thing to renew contacts might be a $$ burden on some. Maybe they feel their vision is just fine and just need new contacts. I mean really.

Order contacts from the UK. The UK does not require a prescription to purchase contact lenses.

I have done this for a few years now because I am too lazy to go back to the eye doctor. They have the same brands that were originally prescribed to me by the eye doctor years ago. The site I ordered from is Lensplanet.co.uk.

I probably will go back soon though, I just don't think it's necessary to go back every year.
