Gf will be in DC this weekend so I'm flying solo. If you could pick a place in nola (casual or upscale) for yourself where would you go? I have my go uptown spots but would like suggestions. My weekend starts Saturday at 5:00pm. And yes I know LSU plays that evening.

When my wife was out of town last March I sat at the bar at Cowbell and had a burger and an Endevor. 'Twas a good night.

Sounds like a perfect time to try Square Root for half the cost without GF. Also, because it's a chef's counter, you won't feel the least bit awkward having a great meal at the counter because you'll have great conversation with the chefs and other diners next to you.

Or a spot at the raw bar at Peche.

Agreed. You also can't go wrong with a bar seat at Sylvain.

I would be PISSED if my SO went to Square Root without me.

I can't recall he last time I went to a sit down type restaurant and ate by myself. Seems awkward and I'd rather take it to go somewhere outside to people watch while eating. But if I were to, Miki would be it.

I eat out at restaurants 95% of the time alone. I'm used to it. And no way in hell am I going to Mickey Moto on a solo journey if it's a special occasion. That's about the most average sushi I've ever had. Go to shogun. It's by far the best sushi restaurant in Louisiana.

Where did the op state this?

As far as "most average", I don't think thats the case. Of course Jackie always helps me out and that may have something to do with it but...

C'mon, you're over doing it with the superlatives. Besides, I'm not going to metairie. I'd hit up Good Time Sushi before making that trek.

Go to the bar at LPG and order a Bee Hive and LPG Cheeseburger. I live next door and have done that a few times. Bartenders are great there.

Really any burger joint at the bar would be ideal. Company burger, high hat, someone mentioned cowbell but that is too cramped for a solo visit IMO. You may have to squeeze in between 2 couples.

I'll take things that aren't shocking for $1000, Alex.

I would definitely do Square Root.

I have dined alone over the years for whatever reasons and I don't have a confidence problem that would make me always sit at the bar. I do on occasion but more often than not I get a table and I'm willing to wait a bit if needed in lieu of sitting at a deuce by the bathroom.

I've been wanting to go, and he's aware.. I'd be so mad. Lol.

But yeah, it is a really good suggestion.

I adore dining out alone.

I'd go somewhere you like (or think you would) that she doesn't (or you know she wouldn't).

Always fun to not have to worry what someone else wants.
