Voters in Oregon and Washington, D.C., have voted to approve sweeping pro-marijuana legalization, according to a CNN projection.
In Oregon, the law legalizes personal possession, manufacture and sale of marijuana for people 21 years of age and older. Mimicking similar plans in Washington State and Colorado, the Oregon law will also create a commercial regulatory system for the production, distribution and sale of marijuana.
Washington, D.C.'s proposal, while scaled back compared to the Oregon proposal, allows for a person over 21 years old to posses up to two ounces of marijuana for personal use and grow up to six cannabis plants in their home. It also allows people to transfer up to one ounce of marijuana to another person, but not sell it.

However, a medicinal marijuana law fell short in FL (need 60% to pass and got ~57%)

Also, Calif "defelonized" possession of narcotics

Yesterday was a step in the right direction for America....and not because of Republicans.

Also, Alaska legalized....but it isn't official yet.

Despite it being something that should be allowed regardless of public opinion, it will be interesting to see the longterm downstream effects of these sorts of legislation on prison rates.

Yet if you look at the map of who voted no, it's inland counties overrun by rednecks.

I don't know how it's broken up by counties, just by age. And this is infuriating.

He funded research which showed the medicinal benefits to MS patients. Thought I read it was a back room deal to help block this in order to secure a gaming license in FL.

edit: to stop gambling expansion in FL that would compete against his vegas casino.

Are we now about to see EBay sales for 1 paper clip; plus a free bonus oz of marijuana?

I guess that makes sense. It's sad that 85% of the No money came from outside the state of Florida. That should be illegal in a state amendment vote.

Still not sure how drastically it will change things because you could already have it in your home. I think the State has 9 months to set up a board to regulate it, so we'll see. I also believe now that you can't be busted for paraphernalia outside of the home.

That graph doesn't make sense.

If 25% of the electorate was 65+ and they were the only group to vote yes under the 60 threshold, how did it fail?

Have to get 60% of the vote, they missed it by 3%. Enough of the other age groups voted no that the elderly voting block managed to sink the law.

Votes by gender- 59% of women voted yes, and 63% of men, and it didn't achieve 60%?

How?

It was split 50-50 males vs females.

Old natives drive the suicide rate high, I imagine many of the villages will ban weed like they have alcohol.
