I'm not proud to admit this, but I had a meal at Olive Garden and enjoyed it

Not enough to enter it into my rotation of restaurants, but a friend (girl, of course) just had to go there for dinner and I obliged. Went to the one in Covington if that makes a difference. Maybe it did.

Calamari appetizer is always great anywhere. Frozen, fried squid is aces in my book.

She recommended I get the braised beef with tortellini and it was pretty good. Surprisingly good. Beef was tender and had a nice flavor. Pasta was solid and so was the sauce. Finished the whole dish and though "I could really eat this again."

Seems like they underwent a marketing rebrand? Menu looked different and so did some of the dishes. I hadn't been there in years.

I don't know how to feel. I'm just so very confused and lost. Judge away.

Be prepared for -

-People that haven't eaten there in over a decade bash you and say you are trash

-People that have actually worked there say that the food is not as processed and 'frozen' as people think. They will also say that they have worked in many other restaurants (independently owned/operated) where everyone loved the food and it was all frozen.

-The above posters will be ignored, of course.

The food there is fine especially for the price. It's not like people go there and expect world class Italian cuisine. Now I wouldn't go out of my way to go eat there, but maybe once in a couple of years I'll drop in and have a bite.

These days everyone's a food snob. The wolves will probably come out to feed soon.

I got this the last time I went to OG. I thought it was pretty good.

It's been a long time, but I do recall liking their salad and bread sticks. I'm basic.

We eat there about twice a year. I always get the same thing. AYCE soup bread sticks and salad. I like the Minestrone. My wife and the kids all split the Big Appetizer sampler. Its not world class but its nit dog shite like some profess.

Urban legend. The guy that initially reported this possibility did it tongue in cheek.

The steak gorgonzola is not bad either. It's worth the money and it is a decent place to bring the little kids to eat too.

You forgot the people that still insist it is all frozen and reheated in a microwave no matter what people who have worked there say.

I certainly don't care enough to judge you for eating OG. No problems.

I've never hated Olive Garden. It's all about expectations, imo. I won't go to Olive Garden and expect to get the same level of food as Ruffino's. However, I do go to Olive Garden with the expectation of a decent meal at a good price.

anything that tastes good at a chain restaurant either:

has a ton of sodium, a ton of fat, or a ton of sugar, or often a combination of these

Most things that taste good at non chain restaurants also have these. That's what makes them taste good. It's not all bad.

I find OG to be a perfectly fine family dining option and the beef with tortellini is my go-to dish.
