I'd just tell your family and rather than announcing it in some major public way, just behave however you'd like. Your friends won't care, and if they do they really, really aren't worth staying friends with. Life is too short to appease the old and ignorant.

Nope - this is exactly what a lot of dudes 16 to 25 would do if given access to a friend's account.

Thank God, that would have been horrible. If your church and family are against gays you may want to move somewhere with a lot of gays like San Fran, Chicago, NYC or Oxford. You will probably be WAY happier there.
