and even for losing a close game on national TV in Death Valley, but LSU is shown ZERO respect for defeating this same Ole Miss team. #19 ????
Really ????
I don't think the Auburn loss should totally define our ranking, which it seems to be doing.
And our 2 losses were to Top 4 teams. The committee seems to have forgotten what we have done in the last 3 games..

The Miss ST game would have been different had Beckwith play the majority of snaps and Harris was put in earlier, or even if we just threw the ball more that game. their weakness is the secondary and we didn't even try to throw until i twas too late. That game was on the coaches.

Auburn game we lose 9/10 times on the road even with an improved defense. they are superiorly coached on offense and their big receivers are a big mismatch for our corners.

really doesn't matter to whom you lose...people don't like ranking 2 loss teams above 1 loss teams..not logical, but that's reality.

there's a case to be made that we should be ranked 5th or 6th above Alabama and everyone that Ole Miss & state have beaten, as well as whom those teams have beaten. I don't think that's completely valid, but 19th is absurd considering we've beaten #4 and only lost to 1 & 3.

Who gives a crap? LSU has 2 loses and are out of the playoff picture for this year. Why not sit back and freakin enjoy the team.

However, you want them to define our ranking with our win against Ole Miss. It's the whole body of work, which includes two blow outs. You can't pretend the losses didn't happen the way they did. We were not even in those games.

Correct. Two losses is two losses at this point. Two losses at the end of this regular season wouldn't look nearly as bad. Give it time. I do think that if Harris had connected on that final MSU game play, the single bad loss to AU would still have the Tigers no higher than 12th. It was that bad of a loss.

Just try to win out. A month ago we didnt know if we were gonna make it to a bowl, I like the way this season is trending upward towards the end for us. Momentum for next season, plus we still have a slim chance at Atlanta.

Again:

1. It's beyond stupid to get bent out of shape after the FIRST poll of the year. This poll will be absolutely meaningless by next Tues. For instance, do you remember who the top 3 horses were at the 1/2 mile mark in the 2012 Kentucky Derby? Me either. Calm down

2. You're bashing the committee for "forgetting" what LSU has done in the last 3 games, but essentially asking them to forget what LSU did in the first two SEC games. LSU was COMPLETELY outplayed by MSU and AU. They didn't even look like they belonged on the same field as those teams.

Take of the P&G glasses and come down from Saturday's high just a bit. You can't expect to be ranked very high when your season to-date features 1 great win (OM), 3 avg-good wins (Wisc., UF and UK) AND 2 arse-kickings. Other teams ahead of LSU may not have a lot of good-great wins, but they also don't have 2 embarrassing losses on the books either.

This is completely fair and that loss obviously is a significant blight in LSU's body of work, but that leads me to another question in regard to the committee's considerations. We all know that what factors are used is vague and apparently entirely at the discretion of the committee. They've mentioned a few things they will significantly take into consideration but nothing requires them to.

My question is, how heavily do you factor in a team's improvement, especially as personnel changes and growth alter a team's composition over the course of a season? For example, if a team loses to the number 1 team in miserable fashion early in the year, only to discover a Johnny Manziel who was on the bench and a mix up of other personnel that results in a totally different performing team by year's end, how heavily is that first loss still factored in a team's ranking if the team has a very different look and record subsequent to early season woes?

And this is certainly not to say that LSU's transformation has been so dramatic, but hypothetically speaking, should a team's fundamental improvement of roster through a combination of personnel changes and growth that manifests itself plainly in wins and performance on the field be heavily weighed when factoring in the bad loss?

In College, you can't get humiliated by division rivals and expect no consequences. We are fortunate to still be playing for something at this time of year given how we started. Enjoy the ride. If we beat Alabama and have a little luck this weekend with other teams we may be going down the stretch with a world of possibilities.

In other words, enjoy the ride and don't get ahead of yourself. Our ranking is inconsequential given the games we have remaining.

From what I've read it seems like the committee is giving a hefty benefit of the doubt if you lost when you had some players injured.

Read this from ESPN just now.
"The committee has already docked Arizona for its unimpressive résumé beyond the win at Oregon. Jeff Long said the group considered the injuries to Oregon's offensive line and pointed to the Ducks' wins at UCLA and against Michigan State as better than anything else the Wildcats had accomplished"

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that since Ole Miss was missing their center and their left tackle got hurt the committee doesn't give a damn about our win.

Which is absolute bullshite.
