Anyone have a recommendation for a business book regarding the following:

I am looking for a business book of business stories about how officers/managers applied techniques to improve or turn their business around. Detailed examples are preferred. Anything like this exist?

Thanks in advance!

I enjoyed The Deadline: A Novel About Project Management. It's a little different from what you're looking for, but it does talk about improving efficiency. Also, I liked From Good to Great, which focuses on leadership and how to lead an organization. I know this isn't exactly why you're looking for, but these may help.

The Great Game of Business by Jack Stack is a great book along those lines. It's an easy read too.

The Smartest Guys in the Room-The story of Enron.

If you are looking to cheat. It is a fascinating read.

And I don't normally prefer audio books but in this case, it really adds to the book. Really interesting.

"Good To Great"

but to save you some time...

* fire everyone that isn't right for the company
* set a single, clear, relevant metric for measuring success
* don't do ANYTHING that doesn't improve that metric

The End

Thank you all for your suggestions. All of them are interesting in their own way.

I am particularly interested in the GGOB. I do a lot of reading in regard to business and I am very surprised that I have never run across this before. Very interesting story. I downloaded the audio book to listen to while I exercise. Thanks again!
