Can you give me details on your system? I haven't really gotten into #'s too much, but the FPI having OU 15 spots ahead of KSU and Bama at #1 on Sagarin has me shaking my head. I'm really unsure how Sagarin has A&M as a top 15 team right now, and UF in the top 30

They have a quality win (Alabama). It is pretty clear the committee is ranking based off resume.

It is no longer about who lost last. I think this is a good thing.

This is a good sign. It shows the committee isn't just blindly moving teams based on when they lose. Also if you're an LSU fan wanting only teams who win their conference or division to make the playoffs is short sighted and moronic

Or maybe we're being objective? I don't think two teams who have played against each other should be included in the playoff.

Their home loss to AZ is worse than Ole Miss road loss at tiger stadium at night.

Why? It's not about picking the best teamm, it's about picking the best 4 resumes.

Just because a team beat you doesn't exclude you from being one of the 4 best teams.

Yeah, the whole "winning it on the field" reason for a playoffs is complete bullshite.

It really is. In reality, it's just 2 extra teams, nothing else has really changed.

That's so fricking stupid. So a team like auburn could beat K State, Lsu, Georgia, Ole Miss, and Alabama but lose on the road to the number one ranked team and a team like Notre Dame or Ohio State or Baylor should go ahead of them just bc miss St happens to play in the same division?

It's dumb. Why we have to ignore that the SECW has more quality teams than 2-3 Power 5 conferences combined makes no sense.

It really does make no sense when you're supposed to be picking the best 4 resumes.

Some of the same ones up in arms about 2 SEC teams being in the playoffs "because they already had their chance" are already clamoring for both FSU & ND being in the playoff. It's mind-boggling.

I find it funny that he doesn't think they should be 4th but he doesn't provide an alternative.

Maybe I'm wrong, but the whole reason for the playoffs in the first place was to "win it on the field" and not by some vote.
Well, if you've already beaten a team ON THE FIELD why should you have to play them again in the playoffs?

Doesn't that defeat the whole purpose of having a playoffs? And doesn't a playoffs increase the chance of having to play a team you've already beaten ON THE FIELD, especially when they expand it to 8 and perhaps 16 teams?

Exactly.

Sure, a couple of other teams have good cases, but so does Ole Miss. It's not at all crazy to have them at #4 right now.

SOS, Win over Bama, 7-1 record, giving up 10 ppg on defense, only loss on road @ LSU by 3 points.

Ole Miss is a really good team that is currently in the middle of a gauntlet schedule.

Yea, that's really solid.

My issue, and why I'd prefer a computer ranking over a committee...I think Bama is better than Ole Miss(yes I'm aware they lost to Ole Miss). If they played on a neutral field and I had to bet my life savings, I wouldn't even hesitate to bet it on Bama, they are better IMO.

All that being said, going back to my point about computers, I think you should only rank teams based on what has actually been accomplished. So in that regard, I'd rank Ole Miss over Bama, even if I think Bama is better.

It shouldn't be about what we think is so, it should be based on analysis of what has actually happened.

Computers > Committee

I can't argue with that.

Vegas oddsmakers have Bama as a favorite vs. any team on neutral field.

We should just let Vegas decide the playoff slots. They analyze metrics and watch more games than anyone...

Yup, not a fan of the committee idea either, but their first poll was good.

And FWIW the computers have the same 4 teams
