Getting off beer

Noticed that I'm getting a slight spare tire, and I've identified beer as the culprit. I'm thinking about switching to gin and getting off beer altogether. Has anyone ever done this before and if so, what were the results?

Just drink that michelob ultra. You can be an active adult, running marathons, playing tennis, and all sorts of other outdoor activities, according to their commercials.
Also note it is one of the few "beers" my wife will drink and she does none of that stuff. False advertising if you ask me. I thought she'd instantly morph into an uber athlete and run circles around me. Didn't happen.

i switched to whiskey about 10 years ago for this reason.
Whiskey is superior to gin b.c you don't need to mix it, so calorie per drunk is more efficient.
If you are mixing gin, even with sugar free mixers, you are going to not see that much weight loss. You need to drink liquor straight up.
Vodka has the best calorie per drunk ratio but its hard to drink straight.

I too recently got on the scale and much to my dismay noticed I weighed a hefty 189. I'm only 5 "7.
This is a proble. That is directly related to craft beer consumption and not enough excercise.
I re committed this week to healthy diet...6 workouts a week of at least 45 minutes including lots of HIIT. I'm going to eliminate craft beer for a few weeks. My strategy is not to buy any...If it's not in my house I can't drink it.
Goal is 175 by December 10.

Beer sucks arse. I probably drink about 5-6 beers a year. Sometimes zero.
If I try and get a good buzz or fricked up on beer, all that happens is 5-6 in I start feeling bloated and full, only half buzzed, pissed off and switch to whiskey.
Whiskey or vodka for me. That is it, don't need anything else.

I made the switch to whiskey (bourbon in particular) a couple years ago, and haven't looked back.

True, but weed is calorie free.
