Scruffy was talking about population since the other poster was comparing traffic.

I'm temporarily nearby in Bocage

I can't believe someone mentioned "traffic" as a problem. If you live Orleans Parish west of the high rise you live within 20 minutes of downtown.
I'm never on the interstate except airport and to my parents in MS.
I also bought in May. I'm so fricked

A guy at work lives on Plymouth. Now, you wanna talk about bad streets? Some of the ones in Bocage are comically bad.

I used to live on Hyman Place (7 blocks away from Plymouth or so) and it was HORRIBLE growing up in the 90s on that street. I was a kid trying to learn how to ride a bike, except every foot was a damn bump and every other yard was a damn crater.

Exactly, I'm making good money but I'm priced out without having a wife yet. 2 incomes make it possible in NOLA

Wanted to move back soon, but not at those prices.

New York is one of the global centers of the world, New Orleans has been a declining backwater since 1860 and a shite hole since 1960. What do the enlightened migratory population see or know that the natives don't. Please tell what is New Orleans going to be? All I see is thirty years of unabated crime; the worst public schools in the country; an economy based on sin and music no one really listens to; and economic development in the form of graft to build a massive hospital, an unneeded airport and bribery to keep a third rate football team.

Lotta junk laying around that house. Couldn't afford an interior designer for the pics?
Am I the only one who thinks the pictures are junky?

Well I didn't migrate, but I've gone to a great deal of trouble and expense to get back here and stay. I'm really glad you left since you hate everything about it so much. One of the best things about living here is that everyone loves it, even when it's really hard to love. I suspect that you turned into a fun hating Jesus freak after you left though. But, did you learn to distort statistics in New Orleans public schools? Because they're not actually the worse in the country.

500K in KC on almost 3 acres. Always fun to see and compare what gets you what and where.

Oh and how could no one point out the cute little teddy bear on the pillow? Hipsters need to snuggle too.

I don't understand the traffic argument in Nola.
Sometimes my truck will stay parked for 2-3 days without moving it. Try that anyone else in Louisiana and you've gone stir crazy. People greatly underestimate the benefit of having everything you need within 1/2 mile of where you live.

Probably about 3 months ago, I felt a cold coming on so I wanted to knock it out before I really got sick. I walked 4 blocks to an urgent care, spent $25 bucks copay and was back home in 45 minutes. In Houston, it takes you 2 hours to get a fricking haircut.
Another example was dropping my truck off to have some body work done to it. Took about 48 hours to fix but I walked home 6 blocks after dropping it off & never even missed it. You'd be lost without a car in Baton Rouge.

New Orleans is a lot more than your bubble.
While I can make it to Chalmette pretty quick, it can take me 30 minutes to an hour to make it back Uptown taking the same routes.
Throw Katy Perry or One Direction in and it really throws a wrench in the works.
Also, heading out through Metairie has gotten better, but it really just pushed the traffic to Vets when getting out of the city.
Having driven BR and NOLA traffic I would say BR is better on day to day commutes, but can get hampered by a big event a lot faster.
