we have them on my lease in texas. buddy of mine killed one 14 yrs ago and got paid a bounty (+/- $75). i also had one CLOSE to my blind once but couldnt find find him to shoot. sob screamed about 10 mins before before dark and the hair stood up on my neck. i KNOW the feeling. no longer being at the top of the food chain is an eye opening experience.

I actually saw a Florida panther back in the mid 80's west of Panama City. Coming back from fishing for specks with a bud and we both watched it step out onto the road in front of us and then leap into the brush a millisecond after.
Years later found out that the Florida DNR was releasing them in the Panhandle and that most were heading North into bama and Ga.. And thats pretty much when the sightings began.

When I'm down there for my hunting week in Ga. I usually stay with my bud over near Foxworthy's place. We have to drive right past you on 315 to get to Waverly Hall from his place. 
Property is off Mulberry Creek and Sparks creek area. Used to have some hosses in there but too many brown is down guys that won't let em' grow to maturity now.
Oh well, still my best shot to nail another P@Y given the circumstances.

Hell I live in the city on a 1/4 acre I have had bears foxes Coyotes deer turkey but no black panther puma ninjas or leopards.

fella killed one just across the alabama line near phenix city a couple years ago. google georgia outdoor news for pic and story. poor bastige got eaten alive b the feds and state govt for killing a protected species. I think he got 25K fine and lifetime suspended license. pretty silly actually. My grandaddy shot one on our place many years ago before I was born. he said the farmhands told him it was best tastin coon they ever ate.

7 years ago my buddy swore up and down to everyone he knew he saw a black panther in a tree above an old shed on their property which borders the wadesboro swamp in tangi parish. No one believed him. That was until a month later, 100 feet from that shed sitting around a fire after homecoming we heard the scream of a woman being murdered. Usain Bolt wouldnt have beat us in a race to the door to get inside. Spent the next two hours researching what made that noise, panther came up, and i believed his sighting.

while im not sure you are serious, I can tell yall that twice I have experienced a drip drip drip dripping sound not deer hunting but spring turkey hunting.
both times found a doe 30 feet up lodged in a tree.

I used to live in harris county when I was younger and got stationed at Fort Benning a few times. One night at the Bradley live fire qualification range (close to 8 years ago), we were watching all the animals (deer, pigs, rabbits, etc) all over the range using the longe range FLIR camera they to ID targets. A few dozen animals at least. Well for seemingly no reason, they all just beat feet back into the wood line. Sure enough no more than 5 minutes later a panther came out into the field. Never knew they were out there. But it strolled on across the field without a care in the world.

As to the OP, I really don't understand all the excitement, belief, disbelief, etc. concerning whether the big cats are here or are there. They're a native animal, they've been reintroduced to our mountains here years ago and they have a healthy deer and turkey prey population. We figgered out a long time ago that we can't believe the official statements given out by the fish and game officials. They have an agenda of some sorts. I don't know why that is when it's so easy just to tell the truth because now, their credibility has been greatly damaged. I'd much rather have these mountain lions than wild hogs.

Neighbor up the road USED to have a barn full of feral cats. He had a large corn crib and kept those cats to kill the rats and mice that lived in the crib. As a result, the whole community was constantly overrun with feral cats and new kittens. If mountain lions have kittens at the same rate those feral mama cats USED to reproduce, our mountains and your swamps probably have a lot more of these mountain lions than any of us realize.
