across the lake does not count

across the river does

ETA: If someone asks you where you went to school, and you don't know to say what high school you went to, you are NOT from New Orleans.

It is never acceptable to admit you're from New Orleans. END OF STORY.

I assume it'd only matter depending on who you're talking to right? Here in Texas, I just tell people I'm from Columbia because its a lot simpler than just saying "Lexington" "Where's that?" "it's about 10-15 minutes from Columbia"

You included Eden Isle? That invalidated your entire list.

I feel the farther from Louisiana you are, the larger the area that can be referred to as New Orleans becomes.

He asked to able to claim you LIVE in New Orleans. I went to high school in Texas but live downtown. It's believe it's acceptable to say I live in New Orleans

Depends if you are talking to someone in the area or out of town. But the high school question is a good measuring stick.

Yeah now with NOLA being a place where people come to live the old where you went to school thing does not work.

I have never lived in NOLA in my life, but I tell people I am from NOLA. But then when they ask what neighborhood (it's happened) I say "Kenner" and they reply "ah, Ok" makes me feel dumb lol

Northshore cannot say they are from NOLA.
They are the descendants of the people who left NOLA to die.
