I think the story sounds great. And I'm sorry, I have a hard time buying the whole MoS is overly "realistic". It's a Sci Fi movie. There are spaceships, "phantom zones", and superhumans. It's not as "playful" as the MCU has been, but they'll all just superhero movies. Whether or not you like the tone, the dialogue (which I hated) is all a matter of opinion. I mean, a huge piece of machinery had octopus arms and tried to "teraform" the Earth.

So you just want every hero to be a God-figure? Sounds very lame.

I get your point. I guess I'm just too hard on both companies and try to put them in a somewhat close level. Probably because I read WAY too many comic books!

So to recap...

To most people: DC screw up=Bad

Marvel screw up=Oh that's just Marvel being loose and having fun.

A God-figure is lame? Alrighty. Well, to each his own, I guess.

I see your point, but I like the antiheroes.

The ones with flaws. The ones that tread that fine line between hero and villain.

Or, since you described your heroes as "god-like," I like the ones that are better described as the "benevolent demons."

I read way too many in the past. I only get to a few every now and again.

That's why I pointed out the Loki-slamming scene. It's not really about a mess up, but about tone.

Take the entire MoS film as is, no changes, but in the end of the film Superman slams Zod 20 times into the ground back and forth. Camera zooms in on Zod's confused looking face with some cartoon noises.

What does that feel like?

If kryptonite is played out, maybe They can get Luthor to find a black comedian to help him create a "super" computer to destroy Superman.

Then maybe Superman can fly around the world a few times to reverse time. That'll take care of everything.

I think the world is just too cynical nowadays to accept a hero without flaws. Instead of someone to aspire to, we prefer someone we know can screw up like we would. It's easier knowing no one is perfect instead of fretting over the reality we never will be.

uhhh... Hulk has nowhere near the strength or combat aptitude of Superman.
Really? Who says? I think Thor won the superhero showdown on this board, and Iron Man faces off against him and holds his own in Avengers.

According to a lot of people, Superman seriously messed up in MoS. From What I'm hearing, he has to face up to the destruction he caused in MoS.

I just meant in general.

As for MoS, it's not okay for him to be the cause of Metropolis' destruction, but the Avengers can do whatever the hell they want to NY.

Not to mention a raccoon causing a ship to crash into a giant building.

The Avengers didn't destroy New York at all.

They broke some windows, but that is about it.

Because those giant snake aliens conveniently crashed on the street instead of into buildings.

Even if they had crashed into buildings, unless the Hulk threw them into them, they had no hand in destroying it.

Superman kinda threw Zod through buildings, flew through buildings, and just generally destroyed Metropolis.

The Avengers don't have that power, except for Hulk and Thor, and both of them were fighting enemies who didn't have the destructive power of Zod.

They couldn't have done that kind of damage to New York even if they wanted to.

Overall though, I think Superman's hand in Metropolis' destruction is far overplayed by critics. 90+% of the damage was due to the world engine thing.

He was thrown into buildings more than anything. He just took a lesson from the raccoon. He had to save the world.
