We're picking up Chicago relatives from the airport, going to St. Louis #3 then cruising family landmarks in Lakeview. SIL suggested R&O for a casual lunch. The reviews are way mixed. Is that the place or should we try elsewhere?

I would be thrilled to go to R&Os in that situation

I prefer R&O's but New Orleans Food and Spirits, Brisbi's or Blue Crab would work.

ETA: R&O's and Brisbi's are closed today.

I'd do Blue Crab today and sit outside. Nice view of the lake with some good seafood is hard to beat.

Nice day for Blue a Crab. Otherwise R&O's for out of town people. Mondo if in the mood for something nicer, not just poboys and seafood.

The deck at Brisbi's is where it's at.

Not a single rec for Mondo? Seems like an easy choice.

Mondo has the best food out of the bunch by far, go to Blue Crab for scenery and atmosphere

Take them to get a NO roast beef.

It's similar to the Italian beef that is huge up here, but the roast beef poboy in Nola is way better

They have access to great food all the time, so wherever you go make sure it is something specific to Louisiana. It's the one thing we don't have great selection of

I prefer Cava to Mondo...... But Mondo is good.

ETA: Cava has been open for about 6 months where the old Landry's deli used to be. Same block as St. Dominics.

I did not think Cava was open for lunch.

This. There may be better quality seafood in the city, but Deanies is hard to beat. Especially if you have guests. Fried soft shell crabs would be great right now.

I'm not a fan of Deanies. It seems to be more of a tourist trap place.

If they are of indiscriminate taste and value quantity over quality, by all means take them to Deanies.

Yep. If you want softshell near there, go to Mr. Eds. Otherwise, I think R&O's or Blue Crab are much better options than Deanie's.
