Any suggestions on home theater speakers? We already have a receiver but no speakers. Room is dedicated theater (18' x 13') pre-wired for 7.1. Will have ceiling mounted projector and fixed projector screen. Does not need to be top of the line as if like to keep this under $1000. I know nothing about this stuff, so any help is appreciated

But to answer your question look into Definitive Technology ProCinema 600
or

Klipsch Quintet Speaker System

Disregard anything Rex recommends.

Klipsch and Definitive are both very good choices and provide high quality sound.
A cheaper alternative would be the Energy Take Classic Home system. It is a 5.1, but for the money it can't be beat. It is highest rated on CNet for its category.

I really like my Definitive Technology ProCinema 600, but it is a 5.1 system. $725 on Amazon for the system plus he would have to buy a couple of satellite speakers to complete the 7.1 system. But I guess he could get it just over $1k or so, depending on the satellite speakers. And then he might need stands or mounts which adds a decent more cost also.

You built a dedicated theater room and you want to buy 8 speakers for $1000? That's barely enough for 2 good speakers.

I was at a customer's house where they were removing Very expensive B&W Nautilus speakers and replacing them with Even More Expensive Wilson Audio speaks. Don't know what all the surrounds cost, but front pair are $49k.

I have klipsch. Love them. Not sure the specs of them. Paid about $350 each. Way too much for the way I use them. When me & the wife get to finally sit and enjoy a movie, there's usually a 2 year old sleeping 20 ft away, lol. But sometimes, when no ones home, I put on some music really loud just to say I got my $ worth

It took a lot of dicking around, but I have reached the same conclusion.
